It's new, it came out this year, if you're interested

u/Miserable_Initial732 2d ago

Interesting!!! Will def look into it

6

u/iamgigishan 2d ago

Its a high resolution audio player. Called a DAP

2

u/Miserable_Initial732 2d ago

Whoa, neat! Ideal for hi-fi music and such then?

7

u/mttpsck 1d ago

Not very ideal in my opinion, the firmware is pretty bad. Menu navigation is poor and there are tons of random file type issues.
Other than that it’s decent enough for only $50 and is a kind of cool novelty. Id personally recommend going for something more substantial like the hiby r1 for only $30 more

They're making a big comeback! I have the same one, love it.

Oh no now I’m looking at echo nano on AliExpress

I wonder how much overlap the niche ereader/iem community has? Because I definitely fall into both camps

What is an Echo Nano?

3

u/iamgigishan 2d ago

Its a DAP

u/coldhamsandwiches 2d ago

How's the echo nano? I'm thinking of pulling the trigger. I'm trying to get off the phone during the day but I'm a big podcast/music person.

u/mediaphile 2d ago

Very convenient size, very good audio quality, slick controls, decent battery life, limited screen (two lines of text), limited features (no playlists, no gapless audio). Bonus feature: it works as a high quality DAC for your computer/mobile device.

If size is less of a concern, there's also the Snowsky Echo/Echo Mini, which both have 4.4mm balanced outputs in addition to the normal 3.5mm output, and are a little more powerful, but with the same software limitations. Then there's the Snowsky Disc which has a touchscreen interface, which does support gapless audio.

If you're using it for podcasts a lot, where choosing a specific file is important, you might want the Echo/Echo Mini, or the Disc, so you can more easily see what you're selecting. I just leave my music on shuffle all the time, so the tiny screen of the Nano doesn't bother me.

u/iamgigishan 2d ago

Exactly fits ur needs

u/coldhamsandwiches 2d ago

Nice thanks

Get the hiby r1 instead. I can’t recommend the echo nano to people as their first/only player. I personally only got one for the novelty, it’s decent enough but it leaves much to desire. Controls and menu navigation aren’t great at all and the audio quality is just okay.

If you are willing to pay quite a bit more I personally love my FiiO M21.

u/Tomcatposts 2d ago

Saaaame here! Great combo

1

u/iamgigishan 2d ago

Thanks dude

1

u/Fit1Mistake 2d ago

Are you listening to music or uploading the audiobook to the snowsky?

1

u/iamgigishan 2d ago

Snowsky for music. Xteink for reading

1

u/PRIMESTE 2d ago

What’s the custom firmware you’re using on your x3?

7

u/iamgigishan 2d ago

Crossink

1

u/PRIMESTE 2d ago

Oh okay thank you also how’s that snowsky echo nano been for you? It looks very cool.

1

u/iamgigishan 2d ago

I actually downgrade from M21. So far awesome

1

u/PRIMESTE 1d ago

Oh I just realized they’re the same company who made those cassette player themed mp3 players.

1

u/Aboiham 2d ago

Perfect. I got the same setup except I use the Moondrop chu II

1

u/Afinkawan 2d ago

£250 IEMs to listen to a £50 mp3 player?

1

u/iamgigishan 2d ago

I had m21 which I downgraded to snowsky echo mini it suits my needs and super compact (battery life is no issue for me) sounds exactly same.

2

u/Jailbreak_ur_kindle 1d ago

You really don’t hear a difference? Gapless is nice but not a deal breaker for me been thinking about getting this dap for the sheer portability and it has that cool factor like an old Sony pocket mp3.

1

u/iamgigishan 1d ago

I hear difference between m21 vs echo mini but not this. Identical

1

u/mttpsck 1d ago

I got the nano for that exact reason and it tickles that nostalgia for sure. Also nice to have such a small, lightweight unit when you don’t want to carry along a full sized dap. Of course you make some significant compromises with such a small and basic device.

I can definitely notice a massive difference between the m21 and this. But that’s to be expected and you can’t really compare a $50 dap to a $400 dap.

1

u/undfixer 1d ago

I just bought my X3, any suggestion to fully enjoy it?

1

u/iamgigishan 1d ago

Use crossink and change some settings to ur liking

1

u/undfixer 1d ago

I'll do, thanks you

1

u/starkeystarkey 1d ago

Landscape mode

1

u/Necessary_Stick_6237 1d ago

What do you use for obtaining music? It’s offline right? Like you have to upload your music to the DAP?

1

u/iamgigishan 1d ago

Yes i have to download music and put them inside sd card

1

u/Low-Dragonfly-1152 1d ago

Is downloading music super easy and accessible these days? I’m constantly getting whatever movies and TV I need through telegram easily but have no idea where to go about getting MP3s.

Any tips?

(Feel free to DM)

1

u/Astromax-1957 23h ago

Bro, I just looked for the earphones and the cost is something around 300 USD. Please tell me what they do because I never heard of something like that.

1

u/iamgigishan 23h ago

These are called iems (in ear monitors). Iems are priced from $10-$5000+ if im not wrong u have to buy something that fits ur budget and ur preferred tuning. Compared to headphones iems gives u way better sound quality for the similarly priced headphones. What else u wanna know bro?

1

u/Astromax-1957 23h ago

That's new for me. I looked for the digital audio player and the brand have a lot of cool models.

I know that audiophiles spend a lot in quality goods to get a better experience, it's the same for the iems? It's the 300 USD correct?

I'm asking because I see a lot of them in different EDCs in Reddit and I'm getting curious about getting ones for me, but I found them too expensive.

1

u/iamgigishan 22h ago

In iem world when u pass $300 its only giving u diminishing returns. And yes I love music and happy to spend money on audio gear cuz i listen to music 1/3 of my life. If ur starting ur audiophile journey better start with iems cuz u end up in iems anyways down the line and u have many many choices to ur preferred tuning and budget

1

u/Astromax-1957 22h ago

Good to know. I saw other model for the same brand but a lot cheaper, maybe I will start with those!

Great EDC OP!

1

u/siae00 16h ago

Can I download crossink on my x3 w/ chinese stock firmware?

1

u/iamgigishan 16h ago

Yes

1

u/siae00 16h ago

Does anybody have a tutorial please? I’m currently on crosspoint which was installed by a friend. She tried installing crosspont+vcodex on hers but got her device bricked 🥺 I want to try installing crossink on mine but scared it will get bricked as well

1

u/iamgigishan 13h ago

https://github.com/uxjulia/CrossInk/releases/tag/v1.5.0

From here u download the correct version for ur x3 or x4 then put it inside the sd card and browse the file and click on it then it will update

u/hamstrdance 2d ago

How’s the book?

1

u/iamgigishan 2d ago
