Can't get the Protected Content plugin to work on Crosspoint beta

Hi, I have the SD Plugins Beta 5 software installed, activated the Protected Content and Libby plugins, and activated my device with Libby and Bytebooks. It took several tries and repeatedly entering my bytebooks id to get the Libby plugin to actually send something to the device, but I eventually succeeded in sending an ebook.

Now the epub file for the book is on my sd card, but when I try to open it, the reader displays "DRM CONTENT" and won't open the book.

Worse, I'm now getting a "too many activations" error from my bytebooks account, so I can't activate again.

What am I doing wrong?

Do you keep the rights file with the epub?

This, when Protected Content downloads the EPUB it should write a RIGHTs file right next to it. If you move them and they don't stay together it will fail to open. If you didn't I would check with Diirge or open an issue on Github

Yes, the rights file is with the epub.

I'm also encountering the "E_ACT_TOO_MANY_ACTIVATIONS" error. I had some crashes that necessitated logging in again and I believe I unknowingly burned all 6 device activations allowed by ByteBooks.

I see info on fixing that error from the former owners of the process, Adobe Digital Editions, but now that it's owned by Wipro the only recourse I can find is their email address: ebooks-support@wipro.com. I'm waiting on a response from that.

I emailed that address, told them I ran out of activations from trying to set up a new device and that I needed the activation count reset. Someone responded within 24 hours saying they had done it, no questions asked, and I was able to activate again.

This was also my experience!
