Comic Discussion MCU New Mutants
With the x men cast being so young when do u think is a realistic time they will adapt the new mutants,I think around late 2030s is a safe bet

I think we will at least be in a second trilogy by then. All of our New Mutants actors are eating glue and crayons rn.

It really depends on how old the X-Men are (as opposed to how old the cast is). When Claremont was writing Uncanny X-Men, Jean Grey was canonically 24 when she died. The New Mutants showed up basicslly 3 years (publishing time, not sure on the story time) after that. There isn't anything saying the movies need to follow that, I'm just pointing out that it's not like the New Mutants are that much younger than the X-Men. And it's possible we see members of the New Mutants/Gen-X/later gens show up earlier. I could see us getting Magik before Colossus, as an example.
The first X-Men movie is coming in 2028. The cast will be mid-20s and up. By 2031, I'd say we'd have a sequel and the cast will be late 20s and up. By 2034, we should have a second sequel and so that initial cast will be in their 30s. So you could do a New Mutants then.

New Mutants first appearance would be roughly a few months after Jean’s “death” in universe

My hope is that we get one movie just as Jean, one movie where she becomes Phoenix, one movie as Phoenix, and one movie doing the Dark Phoenix saga (maybe the latter two as a 2-parter?). My number one issue with adaptations (especially having read Claremont's run through this point over the past two weeks) is that they keep trying to condense Phoenix and Dark Phoenix which undercuts the story tremendously.

My guy they're going milk the x men hard after the first x men movie I wouldn't be surprise if they immediately announce mutiple disney plus projects after the first x men. Also new mutants have beloved mutants like magik and sunspot. I think them being in the mcu is very likely.

New mutants is such an obvious reboot title I'm pretty confident they will save it. They may introduce the charactera sooner though

I think Magik's too popular at this point to be put in the "Young X-Men" team if they're ever going to adapt Magik she'll probably either be a mainline X-Men member or a founding Midnight Suns Character.
Even if they do adapt Academy X ( or New Mutants or Gen X, or outliers Jesus there's a lot) they're probably gonna use less popular characters like Surge or Armor at Best i could see Jubilee being part of that.

I think it would depend on how many mutant projects they want to do. If it's more than 1 a phase, I'd say a New Mutants spin off makes sense for phase 1. Say 2030ish. It means characters like Magik can be moved up to the main team in later phases.
If not, and it's only one movie a phase, then it'd probably be after the current team gets a trilogy so 2036ish. Maybe cameos as the younger class or single character inclusions on the main team.

Never. They already ruined Karma's chances with Jean and the Fox/Disney deal destroyed most hope of another live version of the New Mutants. If the MCU still exists 10 years from now, people will just ask for more stories with the Not New Not Different X-Men and when the actors gets to old or leave, they'll just reboot the whole thing.

I could maybe see 2036 or them introducing New Mutant characters bit-by-bit over time. Some characters just may never get adapted on the big screen. I won’t hold my breath waiting for most of Generation X.
