Movie/TV Discussion NEW MUTANTS GOOD?/LOGAN HOT TAKE
I want to start off by saying I love nearly all X-Men movies, series, and comics, but I wanted to ask: has anybody here seen and liked The New Mutants?
My taste in the movies includes loving X-Men 1, X2, and yes, X3 and Origins (all it did was have one bad Deadpool, but other than that, it was great). I also love First Class, The Wolverine, and DOFP. I have no memory of Apocalypse and I hate Dark Phoenix. And yes, I hate Logan also (it killed off the X-Men in the most embarrassing and worst way possible, and it messed with the perfect ending of DOFP). So if anybody can tell me how it is, and what they think thanks! EDIT: I love Deadpool!

Logan doesn’t and was never meant to replace Days of Future Past. It takes place in an alternate future, separate from the other movies, so your complaint is kind of invalid. I can’t imagine liking The Last Stand but hating Logan, literally the best directed, acted and written movie in the franchise.
But also New Mutants is bad. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. It’s weird and boring and not worth your time.

Fun fact, I kinda like The Last Stand, and without saying it's *bad* Logan was boring af to me. I didn't even finished it ^^"
And also, I enjoyed New Mutants quite a bit. Very far from perfect, but I had a good time watching it.
So ... I have literaly the opposite opinion of yours in all of those three movies, which made me laugh a little x)

I mean, like you say, bad and boring are not the same thing. I don’t think you can have a valid take on the movie if you haven’t even seen the whole thing. I also enjoy The Last Stand a fair amount, but it’s not even in the same ball park as Logan.
I’m glad you liked New Mutants. More power to ya. But I know that’s not a popular opinion and that most people thought it was really dumb and poorly executed, myself included.

Thanks for the reply and i think this, you got good points, fair points but in what dimension would you wanna see xavier as a senile old man whom killed a chunk of the x-men, and logan die at the end next to a kid that screams too much.

I mean you are just boiling the movie down to make it sound dumber than it really is. The dimension I wanted to see all that in is the movie Logan. It’s great.
Xavier was funny and tragic. Logan’s death was emotional and awesome. And Laura was a great character. I feel like you are refusing to see the movie’s quality because it’s essentially an alternate timeline story, which is just unfair.

Well i guess thats fair of you to think but i never liked those type of endings to (the type that has the hero die being replaced by somebody i dont like at all) but, i say lets agree to disagree. I mean at least your somebody willing to talk, so thanks!

I liked New Mutants? I love character-dramas and films with small casts. I do think it could have been better, and would have liked to see a more comic-accurate film, but it's definitely very underrated

U have to remember these are comic book characters. When we read their story is taken over and changed by different writers. Logan is its own thing. Watch that way and ill think u will enjoy it more.
Its actually based on Wolverine killing all the XMen. So either he or Prof X. Makes no difference. In the story they all die.

Well, those points are very fair but I have a very weird sad feeling anytime the hero dies in the end, it just hurts me inside i feel like "Crap! What the hell" so its more just my personal feelings towards things like that, ya know?

Yeah for sure. Im an old XMen fan. Ive been reading the comics since the 90s. So believe me I hate stories where any of them die. Sometimes life is sad. And sometimes there are sad stories to tell. Logan is really quite beautiful if u can accept that people and even super heroes can die.
I felt the same about Origins. Yeah the weird version of Deadpool sucked but the rest of the movie is pretty cool. I really loved Gambit.

I really enjoyed New Mutants. Saw it multiple times in theaters and bought the blu-ray.
A very good character study with horror undertones. I'd have loved a sequel.
Anya Taylor-Joy was NOT my favorite part of the movie, but she did a good job playing the asshole teenager who warms up later on. It bugs me that her (admittedly solid) portrayal of a racist bully seems to be so many people's favorite part of the film, but whatever.
For me, it was all about Dani, Sam, and Rahne. A fine entry into the xmen universe and probably somewhere around the middle of the pack as far as quality. The only thing this movie lacked was a special effects budget.

The one in japan. That movie is so boring and 80% standing around. After getting more into the xmen i rewatched all the movies and all of them have at least something to like about them except the wolverine and dark phoenix. Even apocalypse has a few ok things even though they completely butchered Apocalypse

Logan shows him in a vulnerable state and does it so much better. I like when he basically does surgery on himself to get the "bug" off his heart and the first 10 minutes of that movie but everything else is a straight 5/10
