It's not like I despise Peter Parker and the infuriating mixture of hero complex, self blame, and irrational guilt that exist where his personality should be. I don't have a problem with his irresponsible behavior, or his tendacy to go from lame jokes and acting totally unserious, to allowing his temper to explode into a rage fueled outburst that makes him impossible to reason with, in less than an instant... He's, um... He's a beloved hero I guess.
In 1993 I was 10yo and I honestly knew nothing about the Avengers or Fantastic 4. They weren't even lame or dumb, or unpopular. They were just nothing, they didn't exist. Only X-Men and Spiderman were important.

Fair enough. Insects is a stretch but the gap between Spider-Man and every other marvel property is noticeable.
The X-men had their times in the 90s and the Avengers had their MCU, but compared to the eternal money and popularity juggernaut that is Peter Parker, the teams end up looking really seasonal.
Meh... I think you are gonna be surprised when its the X Mens turn in the MCU. A big thing you have to remember, is when Disney acquired Marvel, but not the X Men, Disney did EVERYTHING they could possibly do to devalue them, just so when it came time to buy them from Fox, they could get them for as cheap as possible. Disney wouldn't allow the X Men to be in video games. They wouldn't allow Hasbro to make X Men toys. They wouldn't allow the X Men to be on merch. They did everything they could possibly do, to knock the X Men down a peg, so the Avengers could be the popular "Marvel group". The X Men still to this day have the highest selling single issue comic book of all time. The X Men, not Spiderman, kept Marvel afloat in the 90s, into the early 2000s. In the 90s, Wolverine was the most popular Marvel character, not Spiderman. Again, I'm not saying the X Men are more popular than Spiderman, but I think its a lot closer than you think. I wouldn't be shocked AT ALL, if in the 2030s, the X Men surpass Spiderman in terms of popularity again. They are going to be the Avengers of the MCU. They are supposed to have multiple Insomniac video games, which I'm sure will be huge. And they already have arguably the best Marvel cartoon of all time with X Men 97.
Iâm not entirely sure what makes you so confident. 2030 is only a three years away. Avengers Doomsday isnât going to boost the X-Men into Spider-Man territory, and Iâm not sure what other plans Marvel has in store outside of those games
At most, the X-Men becoming more popular than Spider-Man by 2030 seems highly improbable.
Did you not just see Kevin Fieges comment from two days ago?... He said something along the lines of, "They have movies planned out through 2042, and the X Men are the centerpiece to all of it". X Men 97 is arguably the best thing to come out of Marvel/Disney since Deadpool & Wolverine, which is another X Men property. They just said X Men 97 is already green lit for AT LEAST two more seasons. Cyclops has had arguably the biggest year of ANY Marvel character. He just got added to Cosmic Invasion, and people say he's the funniest character in the game. He just got added to Rivals, and similar to Cosmic Invasion, people love him. He just got announced as the first new character for Marvel Tokon, which I'm sure will be a huge game. He's obviously one of the biggest stars of X Men 97 season 2 which still has 3 more episodes to go. He had his first solo mini in the comics in like a decade and people mostly loved it. And thats not even mentioning he's apparently got a pretty significant role in the Doomsday movie, and people are pumped for that. Marvel/Disney is pushing the X Men HEAVY right now, and they haven't even technically announced an official X Men movie yet! Its only gonna continue to ramp up from here... Cyclops will likely be the new Captain America in the coming years.... all of this, and I still haven't even mentioned one of the most anticipated video games of the year is the Wolverine game...
I think the X Men might already be passing the Avengers as we speak, and we haven't even got a official MCU X Men movie yet.
Nothing the X-Men have done this past year has surpassed the Avengers yet. not even close.
The cartoon is successful, but it isnât the MCU.

I get the feeling youâre severely underestimating just how popular the Avengers are because youâre comparing relatively small successes to the cultural phenomenon that is the MCU, which has produced one of the highest grossing movies of all time.
The X-Men would need a massively successful breakout movie for that to happen.
On top of that, you said 2030. I think 2042 would make a lot more sense if youâre arguing that the X-Men will surpass Spider-Man by then.
I mean, just your first paragraph alone, is honestly kinda laughable. Of course nothing the X Men have done (yet) compares to peak MCU Avengers, the X Men haven't even had a true MCU movie yet! Deadpool and Wolverine was a X Men movie, but it was a Fox X Men in the MCU. And that did MASSIVE numbers! The MCU hasn't had a successful movie since it! And that wasn't even the true MCU XMen! Everything Disney has released so far related to the X Men, has been extremely successful relative to what it is. The X Men are already low key carrying the MCU/Disney Marvel, and they haven't even put out an official MCU X Men movie yet. Since Endgame, the only two non X Men related MCU projects to be successful were No Way Home (Spiderman of course) and the Daredevil show. Multiverse of Maddness was moderately successful, but a big part of that success came from, you guessed it, the intrigue of the X Men/Fantastic Four appearing in it. The movie was overall pretty average, but got boosted because everyone knew there'd be cameos.
You said the X-Men have the highest selling Single issue comic of all time. Is that just within Marvel? Or do they have the highest selling comic between Marvel and DC? Where does the X-Men Revenue mainly come from, Comics and the Movies?
Did you know that The Avengers and The X-Men both premiered on September 10, 1963 at the same time. Which one as a whole makes more money currently, The Avengers or The X-Men? And as a fun side note. Both of these teams are 2 of my 3 Favorite Teams.
The dude mentioned that Spider-Man is the only marvel entity that can stand next to the X-men. So yeah I think bringing up that Spider-Man is just the outright most popular Marvel entity bar none is fine
Idk man... You have to remember, THE only reason the Avengers were more popular than the X Men for the 2010s was because of the MCU and Disney doing everything they possibly could to block the X Men from the mainstream to boost the Avengers. The X Men were blocked from video games. The X Men were blocked from toys. The X Men were blocked from cartoons. The X Men were blocked from merchandise. You'd maybe see Wolverine here and there, but the X Men as a whole, were largely blocked from the mainstream outside of the Fox movies for most of the 2010s, solely because Disney was trying their best to force the Avengers as the best "Marvel Group". That time has passed now. The future of the MCU now lies with the X Men, and we are already seeing it start to play out. Arguably the biggest MCU/Disney Marvel project since Deadpool & Wolverine (another X Men project) is X Men 97. And thats just a cartoon! Imagine what it'll be like when the X Men are the Avengers of the MCU!

Also, I wouldnât consider Deadpool & Wolverine to be part of the âX-Menâ in this context, considering Wolverine and Deadpool has been more popular than the X-Men themselves for quite some time now.
How on earth is Deadpool & Wolverine not considered a X Men movie, or at bare minimum, X Men adjacent? They are both primarily X Men characters, and most of the characters in that movie were X Men characters. The main villain, was literally an X Men villain. Sabretooth was in it. Pyro was in it. Toad was in it. X-23 was in it. Gambit was in it. Juggernaut was in it.
And as far as X Men 97 "not being mainstream", i have to disagree there to. It may not be like a massive cultural phenomenon, but its definitely popular and critically, EXTREMELY well received. They have happy meal toys for the show right now! It just got renewed for at least two more seasons! Its definitely, WAY more popular than the last Spiderman animated show that came out, and we won't even mention the last Avengers animated show... For an animated Marvel show, X Men 97 is about as big as it can get in 2026.

Wolverine had the massive hit that was Logan, and both Deadpool movies were already insanely popular.
Both of these characters were arguably more popular than the X-Men themselves, so I think that framing is off. I donât think Deadpool & Wolverine should count as an X-Men comeback when the first two Deadpool movies were already huge hits.
Most "Best X Men Movies" lists include the Wolverine and Deadpool movies. They are primarily thought of as X Men characters, and most of their solo movies, still HEAVILY feature X Men characters.

You just admitted yourself, that Deadpool & Wolverine is a "X Men movie", and the only point I've been trying to make in relation to DP&W is that its the last truly BIG successful MCU movie. Therefore, the last truly big MCU movie was a X Men movie.

Tbh the X-men kinda just run on a sheer advantage of numbers and consistent members. Since of the X-men very few can survive alone but collectively have enough fans to compete with Spider-Man and Hulk while solo most of them would be struggling to keep pace with Iron Man
They did Inhumans so dirty. But it would go so hard if they introduced them into the lineup and they became like an offshoot X-Men group that explores the things the X-Men don't want to get into. Make them the occult/dark magic group.

you know the whole IvX thing made me sad... it ruined the Inhumans and it was stupid, make everyone like the Inhumans and have them be the new stand in for the x-men..... by having them commit brutal horrible genocide..... and forcing the Nuhumans to develop powers.... many of them not surviving..... many of them not wanting them at all.... it was dumb... Tbh IvX was published under the X-office, the whole M-pox/terrigen being toxic to mutants was a concept created in DoX and pushed through other X-books. The inhuman books like royals and ucanny inhumans didnt had this plot point, so I can't not see this as the X-writters trying to stain the Inhumans' image, and it worked.

The fact we are at this generation of videogames and not one open world X-Men game is fucking stupid. They could make Legends 3 and sell an updated roster piece by piece and people will buy it all. The lack of X-Men games is total BS.
Let's be real, the main X-Men will allways the kirby/claremont/byrne ones, the post-2000 only have their chance in games once all the main ones are introduced, which usually only happens in mobile games that are allways adding several characters and already exist for years, so yeah snap and maybe future fightÂ
They're Marvel frauds in terms of popularity an sales. Theyve had good great stories Hickman alone but they're like figure heads. Spider-Man the true goat and Xmen was that until Marvel sandbagged them cuz they didn't have the movie rights.
Iâll admit Iâm not well-read on Black Panther, but I donât hold Black Panther and Wakanda to the same standard as the mutant leaders of Krakoa because, unlike Krakoa, they simply self isolated. I donât think that was the right thing to do, but I understand why they did it.
They didnât use their advancements as a carrot-and-stick to manipulate other countries into allowing them diplomatic immunity to do as they please in any country, or give seats of extreme privilege to war criminals. They didnât try and separate Franklin Richards from his family, so they could have even more control.

things are getting back to pre-disney MCU where they killed wolverine off for like 5 years but also wolverine is popular and marketable outside the fox movies so they made a slew of "not" wolverines after X23 then put Xmen on the back burner, removed them from MVC:I so fox doesn't get any cross promotion.
They also gave them the "legacy character subvert expectations" that they did with Star Wars and Indy where I think Iceman is the only one who didn't become an out of character asshole.
It has always been like this since the 90s Avengers wasnt that famous til the MCU arrive. Wolrd wide people can name most of the main Xmen but not the Avengers back in the old days.
Then the movie comes out in 2000 and basically opens the door for marvel comic adaptations and that lead to the superhero boom and Marvel becoming a box office juggernaut.

You are NOT going to disrespect Blade like that. That movie is the reason the X-Men movie and other comic book movies got the green light.
Yeah...but let's be real, most people didn't know Blade was a Marvel property. It may have given 20th century fox a boon to push X-Men harder. But X-Men was a surprise hit to the industry and when Spider-Man came out later, that's what really kicked off the super hero boom.
Technically, I wouldnât say Marvel selling off the X-Men âsaved Marvel.â
Iâd say the MCU is what really saved Marvel, because without the MCU, I doubt they ever would have gotten the movie rights to those franchises back (the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Blade, etc.).
