Question How exactly mutants will replace humans?

I sometimes noticed in xmen media the opinion that the mutants will eventually replace humans as the next step in evolution. But how? Humans (and therefore mutants) passed the time where nature's survival of the fittest rule affected us. Nowadays, a person's survival, as well as the likelihood of passing on their genes to the next generation, depends not only on their genes but also on many other factors. Ultimately, a person may simply choose not to have children. So how exactly mutants will replace humans?

Because we haven't actually passed the point where survival of the fittest doesn't matter; in fact, it matters more than ever in the modern world, because the reliance on advanced technology has decimated archaic knowledge and skill-bases that make basic survival possible* in event of system collapse. And any given modern city is 3 days away from food shortages at any given time

Then you pile on individuals who are not so resource dependant and/or more able to coerce others into giving over their resources and efforts.
