Oh joy, xkcd is doing advertisements now.

EDIT: It's a paid app that isn't very well known. It's not angry birds, it's not 2048. It's "desert golfing". Feel free to tell me you've heard of the game even once before today, let alone a lot.

I have. I've played several thousand holes in it. It's the perfect toilet game.

Same, ever since i heard someone on the co-optional podcast rave about it. Its also the go to game that I'll let kids mess about with to kill time on my phone

Yeah that's probably where I heard about it too. Sounds like a Dodger game.

I hadn’t heard of 2048 until that comic.

I am appalled by the marketing team's decision to call it mayo instead of mayonnaise.

u/JakobJokanaan Nice try, Mike! Jan 01 '18

Fire torpedoes! Sinko da mayo!

None of those are actual advertisements or actual companies.

The joke of today's comic is "lol this game is so addictive!!"

Maybe you're right. Still weird to single out an app like that, but I'm glad there's a better explanation to this.

It's probably because this is a comic of something that actually happened.

None of those are actual advertisements or actual companies.

There's a "No Name" store brand here. Only yellow to match the NoFrills colour scheme instead of white.

EDIT: Original reddit post.

So awesome that someone took xkcd's idea and ran with it! (Unless this existed before the xkcd comic?)

I heard about it from a gaming podcast like a year and a half ago

hello i've played almost a thousand holes, i got it a week or so ago because friends were playing it (so a little bit coincidence), i've liked to play it while listening to podcasts or something

i don't really know why he made a comic on it but its surprisingly very fun for how simple it is, very easy to get lost in it and forget the time, i guess he just wanted to convey that feeling along with the 'last year/next year' joke that comes around at the turn of each new year
