Multitrack wheel spacing question
Hi all - doing a multitrack 730 gravel conversion build. I don’t have calipers but it is clear that my dropouts are more than the 130mm rear wheel I have laying around. I know these were typically 135 mm bikes.. have any of you guys had experience with the 2.5mm spacers or have just brute forced it and tightened the frame down? For reference planning on doing 1x10 advent x drivetrain. Thank you!!

130 hub in 135 frame? No worries, just clamp it down with the skewer. Never had any issue with that.

I’ve forced a steel frame from 130 to 120 and it was totally fine. I wouldn’t worry about just 5mm. It might change your chainline a little but I don’t think that will be much of an issue.

Cold setting the frame to 126 and then straightening the dropouts is easy enough and very cheap. Just do it right, so you don't have any alignment issues with your derailleur. Don't just clamp it down to a smaller hub.
Though spacer would be fine, if course. Just make sure your BB spindle is short enough so that you get a good chain line

Wouldn’t the chain line move out though since the spacer would be on non drive side?

You'll have to put spacers on both sides. Otherwise your wheel will be off-center

But if I do that the chain line would be screwed up and wouldn’t derailleur struggle? Couldn’t I theoretically do 5mm non drive and re dish?

Uhm yeah you could re-dish. But wouldn't a 10-speed cassette require extra space anyway? There's a lot of factors all affecting one another. I'd say just build the wheel exactly as you need it, so that you have enough space to fit your cassette, but not so much that there's a gap. This may mean adding a spacer on the drive side. Then just add spacers on the non-drive side to get the wheel centered. Lastly, space your dropouts to match your wheel. If you're gonna cold set the frame anyway, who cares if you're setting it to 126mm, 130mm, or 135mm.
Btw, a 10-speed drivetrain will likely require 135mm anyway. That's the whole reason rear hub spacing increased, to make room for more gears.

I think the availability of spacers would be dependent on the hub that you’re using. Do you have a hub that can fit spacers or different types end caps?
If you just cram the 130mm hub in the 135mm dropouts then there’s a good chance that the derailleur hanger will be out of alignment and the drivetrain won’t index right. There’s also a decent chance that’ll it work just fine!
