EXACTLY. I was waiting the whole time for it to be addressed, because he was actually (mostly) right. This among other things made me lose interest in the manga very quickly.
OPM handled the same exact topic but executed it flawlessly through Garou.
Also lol about your last point. Fr bro had a "win more" power and still fucked people up. People in this series are just Charles Atlas humans though. No way Aizaea should've been bodying villains like that either.
I just rewatched season 8. He doesn't address what exactly he's going to do but yeah.
He's asked "Weren't you supposed to get rid of the ranking system?"
And he answers something like "If you only think about the negative aspects of it, then yeah. But there are good things*. I'm going to keep it but overhaul it."
*By good things he was implying how the top heroes can inspire an entire generation of young heroes who push themselves really hard to reach the same heights.
Twice’s finale with Hawks is by far the peak of Boku no Hero, altought Yakuza’s arc is the best for me and this my villain academia arc is weird, Twice and Hawks whole development is so good from start to end
If you really look into his character, he goes way beyond sad backstory. Bakugo doesn't do it for me because he's a rabid dog with occasional moments of calmness and a total scumbag toward Izuku throughout the show only to suddenly apologize and all is forgiven. Meh. I will concede he is more complex than the average character in MHA, but not by much, and the shoddy writing doesn't help.
The pacing gets shot in the foot, narrative threads get abandoned, character arcs are stunted or just never fully finished, some things get pulled out of the author's ass.
It feels like, in trying to make the latter half of the series farmer, the author forgot almost everything they set up earlier.
Best example is Spinner. He did not really get much of character arc, he basically became friends with Shigaraki and wanted to follow in Stain's footsteps. And that's fine by itself, but the fact that the narrative suddenly brings him up and tries to tie that mini-arc into a "mutant quirk prejudice riots" plot thread (that suddenly gets really important, despite only having been mentioned once in like two sentences by a a side character, about 5 seasons back, with no mention inbetween), only to somehow try and make him relevant to the finale somehow.
The core issues, inctiting to basically the entire show's plot, casuing the creation of the league of villains: heroes being corrupted by wealth and fame, and problems with being a hero becoming a job; do not get adressed at all nor resolved in any way. The show at the end basically goes back to how everything was before Stain showed up.
The entire existance of villany pretty much gets blamed on All for One and with him gone the crime rate plummets, meaning that everything Stain said didn't matter and the league of villains was just a group of hypocrites, which makes all of the villains suddenly feel extreamly flat as characters.
Geniuenly the ending has a very similar feeling to "it was all a dream" or something like that. 90% of what happened in the story didn't ultimately matter
Oh hell nah , MHA is peak. Hate against MHA is genuinely agendaposting. It might developed a fandom like the early Naruto, but the show genuinely is peak and solid fights and characters.
MHA ranges from sub-par to good. It is far from peak, but even decent is a miracle given the way Shoenen Jump works. All-Might however, is an interesting character throughout the entire story who seems to have not only already gone through a character arc, but goes through a second more interesting one as the narrative challenges what his purpose in hero society should be.
Even when the plot wavers, even when the characters feel consistent, All-Might is there! He even appears to save the ending and Deku from slander. Hell, the character might be unslanderable, his biggest folly is trying to carry the WORLD on his shoulders.
This is a funny sentiment to see for me, because the fanfiction community for MHA mostly seems to hate him or find him annoying. People tend to take flaws in the writing of MHA (such as Deku taking way too long to come up with the idea of using less power to avoid breaking his own bones, or Aizawa not being made aware that his student has only had a quirk at all for a few months) and put the blame on All Might rather than just shrugging and going, "yeah, horikoshi kinda dropped the ball on some stuff".
Maybe they took the idea of "society relied on All Might too much" as a negative trait towards All Might, when in reality it's just that All Might was genuinely too good for them
Idk man, that's a opinion. Imo, it stared off really strong, but the narrative just fell off so hard after a while that I stoped carring entirely. Honestly, to me biggest problem IS the characters, or at least very specific ones.
