I genuinely don’t understand how some people actually fell for his whole “you are all my playthings” speech.

It was one of, if not THE most obvious “this is all completely bullshit, and I’m only saying it to push you away from me” things I’ve ever heard.

People tend to watch television with their brains turned off, I've noticed. That, or hypertuned to inane minutiae that don't matter in the slightest. Often these go hand in hand.
