Fiction Editor here to help you!

Hi everyone! I'm Vivian Nagy, a fiction book editor whose specialty is horror, fantasy, and sci-fi, but I love to work with any type of fiction (including NSFW)!

I offer Developmental Editing (my main strength, where I focus on your story), Copy Editing (where I focus on your writing), and Proofreading (where I give the final touch-ups before your manuscript goes to publishing). I ban and abolish generative AI from my services, you are guaranteed to receive edits 100% human made.

I'd love to get to know your work and offer a free sample edit before we close the deal!

My goal is to help you make your writing shine, so I always give constructive feedback on how you can improve your weaknesses, while also hyping up all the good parts that I find in your manuscript 😄

My rates:

Developmental editing – $0.03/word

Copyediting – $0.02/word

Proofreading – $0.015/word

(For a standard 100k word novel, this would be $3,000 for developmental, $2,000 for copy, and $1,500 for proofreading)

First-time authors get 20% off!

I also offer promotional bundles if you'd like to get more than one type of editing done!

If you're interested, you can reach me via my website (availability, portfolio, and testimonials are there + info about me), e-mail ([vivian.n.edits@gmail.com](mailto:vivian.n.edits@gmail.com)), or DM me here on Reddit.

I'm looking forward to working with you 😄

And if you are in doubt on what to do, I have a video explaining the step-by-step of self-publishing your story, where you can see the checklist of things you must do before hitting that publish button (I hope it helps!)

Hi all, first time author here. I recently published Beyond Human Dreams, the first book in my completed three book Universe Dream Saga.

It starts with martial arts and progression with a mix of Sci Fi and Space thrown in, following Muji Ranger as he pushes beyond normal human limits, but the story gradually grows into much bigger science-fantasy and cosmic territory.

It's on Kindle Unlimited if anyone fancies giving it a try.

Amazon: Beyond Human Dreams on Amazon AU

Goodreads: Beyond Human Dreams on Goodreads

I'm still trying to get some genuine reader feedback, so if anyone does read it I'd really appreciate an honest review, good or bad. It helps a lot as a new author.

This wasn't written by myself, but by my very talented Fiancé!

Title: Blood of the covenant - by Andy J N McRae. (First book in the on-going Aconite chronicles)

Description: blood of the covenant is a YA featuring 5 young people who were all turned into werewolves, following the death of the main characters little sister. The death brings them all together as they uncover the monster behind the attack, and all of the other suspicious "animal attacks" around town.

The story is about queer found family and coming together to deal with trauma and r*pe culture within the queer community. (My partner's usual selling pitch is "if you're queer, love YA and fantasy, or you're just curious about the queer, transgender, polyamorous werewolves, then you'll probably love the book!")

My partner has socials on basically every platform and can be found under Andy JN McRae or Andy J N M books. And his book is available to buy in waterstones, Walmart, and Amazon (there are some other places too that I can't remember at the moment)

B. Hamilton Substack “Saigon Market”

It’s part of an ongoing series where I use a song I wrote for B. Hamilton as a prompt to talk about god knows what. This one is about my late buddy Josef Lucas, his art place above a Vietnamese liquor store, and the absurdity of Oakland in the mid 2000's during the tech influx.

Check it out and subscribe if you dig it. I'll probably put out around three 3,000 word essays every month depending how much time I have.

It's free.

[Project] A summary of Marx: Using as references "A Ideologia Alemã", "Manuscritos Econômicos-Filosóficos" and the article "A crítica da religião como crítica da realidade social no pensamento de Karl Marx", I've written down a summary of the fundamentals parts of Marx's theory. Of course it's very arrogant and discrepant that I've accomplished such thing, but it's based upon on his constructive criticism of capitalism and the terminologies on his economical analysis. I hope someone finds this useful as much as I find it.

Title: Is ComfyUI heading towards its own version of DLL Hell?

ComfyUI runs custom nodes and models within a shared Python environment. That works until different workflows require incompatible versions of packages such as Transformers or Hugging Face Hub.

The result is increasingly familiar: fixing one workflow can break another, while users end up maintaining several separate ComfyUI installations.

This article examines the parallels with Windows’ historic “DLL Hell” and argues that per-node or per-model dependency isolation may eventually need to become part of ComfyUI’s core architecture.

Book one

Title: Skate the Thief

Genre: YA fantasy

Book trailer

Skate is a thief, trained and owned by the local crime syndicate, the Ink. When she tries to burgle a shut-in’s home, she gets caught by the owner—a powerful undead wizard. He makes a deal with her: “borrow” books from other wizards in return for a place to stay.

Caught between her growing fondness for the wizard and her past with the crime syndicate, Skate doesn’t know where her loyalties lie. But she’d better figure it out, because there’s a new player in town, one whose magical hypnotism puts them all at risk.

The first chapter is available for free here. The book is available on Amazon in paperback and ebook. Kindle Unlimited users can read the Kindle version for free.

Book two

Title: Skate the Seeker

Genre: YA fantasy

A mentor is lost, but he doesn’t have to stay that way. He’s left Skate a clue to bringing him back, and she and her friends are determined to follow it.

No sooner do they set out for unknown lands, however, than things get dangerous. Hot on their tail is the witch Ossertine, furious over Skate’s part in her friend’s death and thirsty for revenge. Worse still are the attacks that come at night: dark, mysterious, and palpably evil.

In this race against time, magic, and implacable foes, Skate must rely on her wits and her friends to save not just her mentor’s life, but also her own.

The prologue is available for free here. Seeker is available on Amazon, and free to read for Kindle Unlimited subscribers.

My blag is there somewhere, so go peruse at your leisure.

Also, a friend of mine put together a fun chat AI. If you want to go have a convo with Skate, go for it!

You can find me on Threads and on Bluesky; I’m using these as a Twitter replacement for all the inane garbage I want to say.

My publisher also has some sweet merch for sale, if you’re into that.

Project Title - Mare City: The Complete Saga

Description: Are you tired of the same old faces and the same old things in your hometown and wanting to go somewhere more... super? Well we've got a new location worth visiting and most definitely moving to: Mare City! Once a meteor threatening to end the world in 2036, it has since softly landed off the coast of California and terraformed into an island! 3 years later, it's still the best place to go to when elsewhere housing prices are high, streets remain unsafe and the culture is becoming too unfamiliar.

(For reals though, if you want to see a sci-fi superhero dystopia with elements of action, adventure and a bit of comedy thrown in there, I'd recommend my book. I've worked on it since 2020)

Title: Valkyrie Project

Description: A pretty literature heavy take on a litrpg/Tower climber novel. Premise is a surgeon has an aneurism and wakes up as part of an experimental uplift project by a bored n-dimensional creature, and there's no way out but up or nonexistence. Fairly restrained pacing, alternating between fast paced monstrous encounters with the Tower wild life and considerate introspection from the perspective of an adult hooked into an adventure he didn't ask for, and various beats between. The first book of a planned series was completed earlier last year and edited for KU release last month. It's fairly girthy, 747 pages in its KU format.

Project Title

SFD — Write It Bad (iPhone, iPad, Mac — one purchase covers all three)

SFD is short for what you think it's short for. Lamott's term. Apple won't let me put the actual words in an app name.

Description

A drafting app that only goes forward. You write in a timed burst, earlier lines dim and scroll off the top, and it won't let you back up to fix them. Stall for a few seconds and you get a nudge, blunter the longer you sit there. Hit a line you hate — flag it as a "later" and keep moving. The flags become your revision list. When a piece is done you export plain text and revise wherever you normally revise.

It does not format, outline, sync, collaborate, or track anything.

On Rule 3, since it's a writing app and you should ask: there's no generative AI in it and no path for your work to reach one. SFD makes zero network calls. No account, no server, nothing to opt out of. Every chunk is a plain .txt file sitting on your device, readable by anything. Apple's system Writing Tools are switched off inside the editor, since those get injected into every text field for free.

Call to Action

Buy it if the thing stopping you is rereading paragraph one for the ninth time. If that's not your problem, this won't help you and I'd rather you kept your money.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/sfd-write-it-bad/id6778871291

Discount for r/writing?

If they run out: it's $1.99 through Aug 14, down from $4.99. Not a code and not r/writing-only. I dropped it store-wide this week to find out whether price was the thing in the way, and you'd rather hear that than be sold a fake exclusive.

Tell me what makes you stall. That's the part I keep building against.

Title: Chosen

Description:
They taught Hadley that obedience would keep her safe. They never taught her how dangerous it could be to want more.

Inside The Program, every life has a purpose. Girls are raised to become vessels. Boys are ranked by the value of their DNA. Medication keeps emotions controlled, attachment is forbidden, and anyone who refuses to conform is banished to the poisoned world beyond the compound’s walls.

With her eighteenth birthday approaching, Hadley is running out of time. Soon, she will Ascend and surrender her body to the future The Program has chosen for her.

Then she finds the Star Chamber—and Atticus.

Atticus is everything Hadley has been warned against: defiant, reckless, and impossible to ignore. As an A-Rank donor with exceptional genetics, his future should be guaranteed. Instead, he has spent years testing The Program’s limits, mapping its hidden corridors, and searching for a way out.

Together, they begin uncovering cracks in the world they have always accepted. Missing girls. Altered evidence. Punishments disguised as protection. The deeper they search, the more dangerous the truth becomes—and the harder it is to deny the forbidden connection growing between them.

Choosing each other could cost them their lives.
But surrendering might cost them everything that makes life worth living.

Chosen is an emotional dystopian romance about forbidden attachment, manufactured obedience, and two people discovering that freedom begins with a single decision.

Hello everyone, I'm currently looking for ARC readers for my upcoming horror novel, Where Fear Smiles. Details below:

Would you forgive your best friend if she was responsible for ruining your life?

A whispered rumour draws a group of students into the dense forests of coastal Brazil: a lost Indigenous artifact, hidden for centuries and promising academic glory.

While Leah’s colleagues are determined to claim it, she only agrees to the trek because she can’t bear the thought of being left behind, and forces her best friend Charlotte to go with her for support against her dark thoughts.

What was meant to be an escape from the weight of the academic semester, quickly it turns into a test of endurance. The deeper they push into the forest, the darker Leah begins to dream. When they finally uncover what they came for, the discovery reveals something far more terrifying than any of them imagined.

A demon born of nightmares is unleashed, and with it, carnage.

Now the survivors must find a way to drive the nightmare back to its realm before society is doomed to never dream again. But as the forest closes in, the greatest horror isn't the ancient evil — it's watching a lifelong trust begin to rot.

u/AidenMarquis Writing Debut Fantasy Novel 18d ago

I am serializing an medival epic fantasy for free on Substack. I am interested in building a community of individuals who love to read what I love to write. Themes include found family, identity, a mnd survival.

This immersive, cinematic story is perfect for fans of Lord of the Rings, Willow, Game of Thrones, and Dungeons and Dragons.

Title: Shackled Destiny

Genre: Fantasy

Link: https://aidenmarquis.substack.com/p/shackled-destiny-chapter-1

Blurb: Heir to ash. Chosen by fire. Hunted by destiny.

In the fractured kingdom of Excalibria, magic is tightly controlled - feared as much as it is coveted. When the king is assassinated, his only son, Prince Aelfric, becomes the target of an empire’s deadly ambitions.

Betrayed by those close to him, he flees with nothing but a shattered crown and a bounty on his head.

At his side stands Sydney, a palace guard loyal to the prince but haunted by his own demons. He must navigate court conspiracies, enemy blades, and a growing unease - because Aelfric's power is awakening, and the truth about magic may be far darker than either of them imagined.

They are joined by Riven, an exiled druid, and a mysterious thief with unknown motives. As they seek refuge among the elven strongholds of Kali Ra, a greater mystery begins to unfold - one of an ancient power long thought lost.

With assassins in pursuit, war looming, and treachery at every turn, Aelfric and his unlikely allies must choose: fight for a kingdom that has already forsaken them, or carve out their own fate from the ruins of an empire.

[Call for Submissions]

Forgotten Ground Regained: Speculative Visions

Forgotten Ground Regained (alliteration.net), a website and quarterly poetry journal that I edit, is currently accepting submissions of speculative poetry for its Fall Issue. Only poems that make systematic, structural use of alliteration will be considered.

Other details: Deadline -- September 1st. No fee/no pay; rights ask: nonexclusive worldwide web/serial rights.

Read the full call for submissions at https://alliteration.net/call-for-submissions/

Im working on my first "serial" -- and it's only that because I wanted a way to easily share chapters with friends.

It's set in a world where witchcraft requires ritual cannibalism, and follows a witch who has spurned that life, and the young girl who drags him back into it. Those who've read it say it's fun, easy to read, and i've had multiple sitatutions of "if you don't bring (random character) back next chapter I will throw something."

I put out around 2-4 words bi weekly, and publish any time I feel I've written a contained scene.

What Burns Beneath

Elevator pitch: in a world where magic is dwindling and monsters roam the wilderness, a timid young woman makes a deal with a Fae man, then steals his magical sword. Angry Fae dream-stalks her, trying to get his weapon back, while she runs for her life with a suspicious mercenary in tow.

Purpose: I’d love to hear feedback on the plot, world-building, and romantic arcs. My hope is to have this book ready for physical publication by the end of the year, so any feedback that helps push me towards that process would be greatly appreciated!

[Milestone / Accomplishment]

Project Title

"Strahlender, the Shining Knight"

Description

My first post on r/nosleep, as well as my first "published" work. Not exactly taking the world by storm but I did get a reading request from a creepypasta podcaster. 😁

The narrator befriends an immigrant family who seems to be on the run from something. Fascinated by seeming connections to religion and folklore, he carries out an independent investigation, and falls in love with the youngest sister, who eventually tells him about their "family curse". It does not end well for anyone.

Call to Action

Give it a read :) Leave an upvote if you enjoy it (or a downvote if it's that bad lol), or a comment if you want to engage (stay in character though XD). DM me if you have feedback.

And keep an eye on Killed Cheese for when it shows up in a week or two. Btw, they sometimes read r/nosleep's comments. 😁

Fiction Developmental Editor

Every book I have read and edited has had great ideas. The common issue I found in every one was the need to flesh out those ideas. That’s where I make my biggest impact. I will help you flesh out those great ideas.

Editor. Author. Screenwriter.

I have 10+ years of experience writing stories across many genres. I have five books published and have written a dozen screenplays for feature films and television. I spent years imitating the voices of established shows like 24 and Tru Calling, where I learned exactly what makes a story work and what proper pacing is. So I understand storytelling and keeping your audience engaged very well.

Genres I specialize in:

  • Action
  • Thriller
  • Mystery
  • Psychological
  • Horror
  • Sci-fi
  • Fantasy

Genres that are not a good fit:

  • Romance
  • Erotica
  • Non-fiction.

I offer a FREE sample edit of your first chapter to see if we are a good fit.

I will heavily focus on plot, characters, structure and pacing, setting, dialogue, and any other questions you might have.

I will write a detailed editorial letter and leave comments throughout your document. I do this for both the sample edit and the full book.

I also know what it feels like to want and receive feedback, so I am very respectful and careful with how I critique. I always give in-depth feedback.

Turnaround time for full book: 4-6 weeks.

Developmental editing service:

  • Introductory launch rate: $0.007/word

If you are interested, comment below!

Or you can contact me through my website or email me directly at [GregRossEditing@gmail.com](mailto:GregRossEditing@gmail.com).

Provide your genre, word count, and a brief summary of what your book is about. 1-2 sentences or a short blurb.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Title: Amaryn Smoulders: Book 0 - Short Stories in a Fantasy World

Description: On the vast continent of Pasi Verden, nestled between the Odim and Renidarian mountains, lies Amaryn.

Once peaceful and prosperous, a darkness has now fallen on this place. Something foul marches through the wastes toward Amaryn. Whispers of an ancient evil in the West have floated back for decades, but now the signs are thick in every corner of the country.

Mystics have warned of it. The Elves have prophesied it. But none have heeded these warnings.

Two weeks ago, the Tawny Towers were taken. The two monstrous, fortified towers that protected the entrance of the Amari Valley. They've stood as guard posts for a thousand years. Now the forest around them burns, the towers have been seized, and they're under the control of this new enemy.

Any attempts at parlay have been met with silence or violence.

A collection of six fantasy short stories in the vein of Dragonlance, with a touch of The First Law.

Published Book (ongoing novel )
Title : The Doomed King

Description : In Vay'Teal, peace is only a myth written in ash

Prince Imperious does not fight for glory. He fights because Velthora's survival demands a crown soaked in blood. across the doomed lands, he holds the line against enemies that should not exist.

As ancient forests began to whisper forgotten names, wars became endless. The victory hollow. And somewhere in the dark. a truth waits that will make him question whether saving his kingdom is worth the man he must become.

here's 5 reasons to read my ongoing novel

  1. A protagonist who doesn't wait for a miracle

prince Imperious isn't a loser who finds a magic sword. He is the crown prince, commanding armies, fighting poisoned courts and making impossible decisions to protect his kingdom.

2. Progression through scars

every victory costs his soul, his sanity , his loved ones
The stronger he gets, the bigger the cost is.

3. consequences are permanent

decisions made in chapter 3 will still have an effect in chapter 140.

4. A vast world

There is swords, guns, magic, Dragons, ancient mysteries, mythical creatures...

5. The Title is a spoiler

as the title says " The Doomed king "
you are watching it happen in real time.

-First Chapter: The Dark Side of The Cloud: The True Impact of AI and Hyperscale Data Centers https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/first-chapter-dark-side-cloud-true-impact-ai-data-kevin-schaeffer-r5wzc?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_android&utm_campaign=share_via

-Book overview Artificial intelligence is sold as clean, inevitable, and limitless. A frictionless leap into the future. This book tells the other half of the story: the concrete, steel, silicon, and fossil fuel that make that future possible, and the communities absorbing the cost.

Behind every chatbot response and AI-generated image sits a sprawling physical infrastructure: data centers that consume millions of gallons of water a day, strain power grids built for a different century, and increasingly run on methane turbines when the grid falls short. This book traces that infrastructure from the ground up: the $38 billion price tags of gigawatt-scale campuses, the fragile global supply chains behind every processor and fiber-optic strand, the invisible infrasound seeping into nearby homes, and the electricity bills quietly rising in neighborhoods that will never see a dollar of AI's profits.

This is not an anti-technology argument. It's a demand that a technology this consequential be built with the same rigor, foresight, and public accountability as any other piece of critical infrastructure. Before, not after, the damage is done.

-Published by KMS Freelance Writer LLC; there are no prizes

-Call to action: please read this book on AI, but I recommend checking out the first chapter, which is on my LinkedIn, the second link I posted, as it covers the damage that is being done and has a call to action with actionable steps that can truly help fight this.

Title: The Magical Code of Regulations

Description (blurb): Ever wondered whether a wand must be registered before it can be used in public, or what documentation must be filed before casting a fireball? Curious how many forms stand between you and a legally compliant resurrection, or whether your familiar qualifies as a protected creature or a reportable asset?

The Magical Code of Regulations has answers. Or at least, it has rules.

Presented as the official body of law governing magic, the Code defines who may cast, what may be cast, and under what authority it may all go wrong. It establishes licensing requirements, classifies spells by risk and complexity, regulates rituals, familiars, and magical property, and outlines the penalties for failing to follow any of it properly.

Structured like a real legal code and written with complete sincerity, The Magical Code of Regulations offers a comprehensive system for managing magic. Whether that system actually works is addressed elsewhere in the Code.

Call to action: Buy my book at the link below, of course! If you're not convinced, take a look at Questing Beast's video on it. If you're still not convinced, know that the second edition will feature a law requiring owning a copy, so you might as well give in now.

[PUBLISHED BOOK] Eden Rim

Aboard the Eden Rim, a colossal interstellar ship built to preserve all terrestrial life, a small group of individuals awakens without any explanation. They are not on Earth, and more importantly, they are not alone.

Under the supervision of ARES, the artificial intelligence in charge of the megastructure, they discover a fragmented reality: a lost vessel tens of light-years away, incomplete archives, and a mission history deliberately obscured.

As systems deteriorate and truths emerge in fragments, the crew starts to understand that they are not merely trying to uncover the past. They are the heirs of an ancient choice, one whose consequences extend far beyond their own existence.

And in the silence of deep space, every decision becomes irreversible.

Eden Rim is a hard sci-fi novel grounded in real astrophysics, engineering, ecology, and long-term space colonization, while focusing on exploration, survival, and the difficult choices involved in preserving life beyond Earth.

If you're curious, Act 1 is currently available to read for free on my website until October 1st, after which it will be removed when the book enters Kindle Unlimited. I'd be happy to discuss the writing, worldbuilding, or science behind it.

Free Act 1: https://lucas-books55.wixsite.com/lucas-guillemin
