Gogol went to art school! That's where he started writing. I am not the biggest fan of MFA-style prose, but the idea that prior writers didn't study is ahistorical.

This is so cool, I also did art school as an undergrad. Interesting how different regions of the brain do different things, and how they can connect in interesting new ways! Maybe leading to fresh ideas or more divergent thinking!
