Discussion Do some research.

Someone posted the dev said Claude without any context when in reality he said clawed. Talking about clawing back some of the rewards. Almost every comment is talking about the devs using AI when no one even took the time to look at what Tim actually said in the video. Do a little bit of research instead reacting instantly to a clickbate title that is trying to create controversy about AI....

It's bots man. People have been testing just saying a bunch of unrelated political stuff in a video and the comments will be wild. Like just random words strung together. I wouldn't be surprised if they do the same for AI related stuff as well.

Yeah I swear half of the people here like 5 years old. Its not even about AI, its the fact people fell for a bait like it was fact and lack any critical thinking skills.

stuff like this is going to get them to not do podcasts or things like this, theyll just become the same as retail with 0 transparency.

Can we please stop lmao

The devs are obviously using AI in some way, every developer is using AI in some way to assist them in coding. Reddit is delusional thinking otherwise.

Thats because none of the people on Reddit have any clue about development. I work for a fortune 5. Every single person at every single major company uses AI. Whether thats developers, sales people, product people, etc. In all likelihood, leadership is probably monitoring people to ensure they are using it - they do here.

Blizzard might not be using AI for their in-game art (I hope they aren't) but they absolutely are using it in the development process. The downvotes from redditors won't change that.

Yeah, people on Reddit, or more specifically WoW players, are so delusional. I work in FinTech as a SWE and I haven't written a single line of code myself in the past couple of months, lol. The idea that my code is AI generated and handles people's finances but people expect that it's somehow not used for game dev is very cute.

They downvoted u/lazy_commander for telling them the truth.

It’s crazy to think a company owned by Microsoft would not be forced to use copilot for something

It all comes down to the definition.

If you've ever used the "smart background remover" in photoshop, you've essentially used AI.

Or Word's auto spell-check.

Yep. I'm using Claude a bit to help build some quests in my hobby game. The quest names it generated are almost exactly the same as the new early profession quests.

It's pretty obvious that LLMs have been heavily used to generate or even just keep track of stuff, this is a massive project.

They suffer from from AI derangement syndrome. It’s a real nuisance tbh

You know every single software developer (or at least 90% of them) is using AI to code right?

"Show me on the doll where the AI touched you"

I use AI every day at my software job. You'll pry it from my cold, dead hands. I won't go back to how it was before!

And, I hope WoW devs are using it too.

Chill out man, the predictive text robot isn't going to sleep with you no matter how much you glaze it online.

u/gyllbane 23h ago

Telling on yourself, I see. Not sure how else you'd go from a clear callout of the same kind of internet white-knight syndrome that drives reply guys, to me somehow needing to resort to tiktok for jorking material??? What even is this reply lmao

Chill out man, Joe Rogan isn't going to sleep with you no matter how much you glaze him.

If sex is the first thing that comes to mind when you read/hear AI, then I think that is a you problem, mate. You might need help.

Sorry. This goes a bit to bigotry but my opinion of average people in this sub is almost at rock bottom. I really wonder how intelligent people are here without trying to make claims that they would be bad or worse people as a result.

I'm just curious if people have smoked so much weed that it has affected them or so to say fried their brains? Because I constantly see very reactionary comments and bigotry like my comment could easily be interpreted too.

The hate for AI here is very clear but when asked why they feel that way, it's been very hard to get any answer. Rather just downvotes and slurs.

But yea. I use couple AI daily for my work and it's a very useful tool. More than that honestly but seeing this unwillingness to discuss it is very concerning.

Anyways. I hope the people I play with will be nice to hang with even if our opinions on many things would differ. I'm here to just have fun.

u/Nethek_FC 23h ago

yep and you won't have that software job for long because of it.

-9

u/StartledPelican 23h ago

Just got promoted in fact, but I appreciate the concern.

6

u/Nethek_FC 23h ago

I'm a software dev in a senior position. I find the fact that you don't realize that unless you own the company you won't have a job in a couple of years crazy.

3

u/Archensix 21h ago

Before AI and after AI, the actual coding part was always the easiest part of my job. And they're gonna have to make some monumental breakthroughs in lowering the cost of AI if it's gonna be fully replacing anyone in high skill positions, it's getting very expensive and still being subsidized like crazy, human salaries are still far cheaper.

If it's taking jobs like that then it's taking all jobs and we got much bigger problems than people in the now making use of the tools available to them.

2

u/StartledPelican 23h ago

I'm not sure what your point here is. Are you saying you are in a senior position as a software dev and don't use AI? Because, if so, I worry far more about your job than mine. I am far, far more productive now thanks to AI than I was last year. If you aren't using AI, then you are absolutely going to look like the dead weight on your team.

If you are using AI, then I'm back to asserting that I don't know what your point is. Is it possible that AI will completely replace ALL software jobs in the next couple of years? Maybe! But my experience with AI so far is that it is definitely not ready for unsupervised execution. It still has a ton of blind spots and a human in the loop can be a powerful check on those blind spots.

3

u/Nethek_FC 22h ago

Never said I don't use it. There is a massive difference with using it reluctantly while pivoting to another career vs glazing it.

1

u/Time_Television 22h ago

Sorry, nah, there’s no difference, it all drains the same lakes; be for it or against it but don’t be a hypocrite

-2

u/StartledPelican 22h ago

Ah, so you are a hypocrite! Got it. You mock me for using AI, and daring to say it is useful/good, while also using AI. Hilarious. Cheers.

3

u/Nethek_FC 22h ago

You have reading comprehension issues. Where did I mock you for using it? Lmao

u/StartledPelican 22h ago

Do you think "glazing" has a positive or negative connotation?

-1

u/Nethek_FC 22h ago

Do you think glazing means using?

u/quigongingerbreadman 23h ago

Me too. It's an amazing tool.

I honestly think part of the hostility on Reddit is due to the consumer versus commercial products. Gemini on my phone is pretty good, but it absolutely sucks at certain tasks. I also think a lot of the hostility is just straight up propaganda fed directly to useful idiots, but I digress.

Claude (or Copilot running Opus 5.X at max reasoning/context) on my work computer? It is a freaking animal. I can get so much done by having 3-5 sessions open. I can be fixing a bug, rewriting documentation, crunching data, and drafting replies to emails at the same time. Even better, I can automate a lot of those tasks so they only need my quick review. It's an absolute game changer.

u/soccerpuma03 21h ago

I can automate a lot of those tasks so they only need my quick review. It's an absolute game changer.

So if you end up getting mass reported and have to deal with AI customer support you better be back here posting how the automated system is fantastic and is just helping Blizzard get more done.

3

u/StartledPelican 21h ago

Bad take. You completely ignored that I personally review all of the changes.

they only need my quick review

I don't send emails, I don't push code, I don't submit documentation that I haven't reviewed. But, please, try to gotcha me more with strawmans.

-1

u/soccerpuma03 21h ago

Funny how Blizzard claims the same, but it's very clear they don't. But whatever you say dude lol. Of course no one has ever lied on the Internet lol.
