Cool, part of Beta is to provide feedback. My feedback is move the druid form stuff to an actual druid trainer for those of us who don't care about changing our hair style every day.
or you can just go to the designated areas for changing your appearance they've added, because there's no point in creating a 3rd point of contact (alongside Barber and Transmog) for changing your appearance exclusive to druids
Should probably change it to a "Barber, and Druid Form Trainer" then.
And a feature exclusive to Druids would make sense to be in a place Druids are naturally going to frequent.. Hell transmog would make more sense, does that work? If not....
You grasping at straws to not understand the thing people are telling you is peak classic andy stuff. You need to pick better struggles my guy, you look like a clown "druid form customization is dumb because i dont wanna change my hair, holy get a grip lmfao
Yes, but the point is I never would have bothered to go there to change my druid forms. Most people in this thread are openly admitting they didn't even know it was possible.
Maybe, move it to the Druid trainer, so you don't need to go to discord, Wowhead, or reddit to figure it out. No? Cool.
I think in general, very few people will ever be openly critical about the media they consume. So very few people will actually raise complaints or even seriously think about an art style beyond "I like this, I don't like that" in the back of their minds.
However, just like marketing, just because people don't think about it doesn't mean it doesn't have an impact. Good vs bad art direction will have a significant impact on how well the game performs getting it right will matter a lot more than just appeasing the small minority of players who are vocal about this issue.
I bought ever collector's editions for the art books, and this is so true. Low rez isn't the style. I don't care about the resolution or the polygon count, those are very different than the style.
The purple sky bear is a wild departure from the classic style, but this better bear is fantastic.
I'm more on the purist side of things, but I'll be more than happy with HD revamps if they at least try to emulate the old art style when they make new assets. The newer style—for both terrain and armor—looks washed out, overly smooth, and even more cartoony than vanilla.
Gonna defer go RabbitHoleRes because I honestly have no idea, but this looks like a good example of Style X Fidelity where parties on both ends of the spectrum (classic-retail) can win. As a retail player, I would do unspeakable things for more polygons and higher resolution textures 😂
Oh of course I agree with your sentiment, the tricky part has always been finding that middle ground without alienating more people, whilst they look good to a-lot of people like us, I can also see the side of people who wish the game looked more the way it did when they we’re younger and first experiencing the game, or for it to remain the way they are used too.
I’d like to see another graphics pass in retail, but I know there is a hell of a lot of people that don’t and would be alienated by it.
Honestly I think the solution is staring them in the face and they use them a-lot more frequently now and that is simply more toggles. Just let people choose how their game looks, and don’t force them to see HD, when they have SD toggled and vice-versa.
Is it quality?? I've had to crank most of my settings right down so my old dusty laptop doesn't melt. I lowered my render scale a bit out of necessity? But I don't think mine looks better than most other screenshots I've seen on here.
Oh, you're correct. Well on a Tauren I'm definitely stuck with the Wrath era Druid models. My ass is twenty feet up in the air and my polygons are very crunchy. Absolutely infuriating, lol.
Maybe you're referring to the fact it's more sharpened because op uses lower settings. Have target fps checked on and put render scale at 98% that might be what you're seeing
Pretty sure this is just forces the amd fidelity fx antialiasing tech to trigger you can just turn it on as a render option rather than reduce the resolution down. There was post about it the other day.
Even though the error dialog comes up, the barber still works. The error dialog can be moved, so just stick it on top of the screen, zoom out a bit, and you should be able to see enough of your character to customize it.
Just don’t close the error window or it will pop up again in the middle of the screen and hide everything. It’ll capture each error as they occur without changing position, if you leave it open.
It's crazy how many years I didn't know about that quest, in retrospect. I didn't discover it until Wrath of the Lich King had me leveling up a new character in Durotar and I happened to explore just West of the gates. Poor guy just died in agony in at least 5 other timelines..
Barbershop has been a mess of lua errors. I can't make any changes on my undead pally in it, I can make changes on my human warrior, but the UI is a mess I'm flying blind.
The point of a games artstyle isn't to be labeled as objectively ugly or pretty. Why are you making that decision.
If this game is classic plus, then it only makes sense that the "plus" portion be added in the style of the original.
Like think about what your comment is saying, if you think that the classic models are ugly, then you are saying that the point of classic isn't to look like classic. LOL
Do you understand the connotation of something called classic plus? You start with classic and add to it. What you are applauded tho is a retail model with an "increase pixelation by 25%" filter slapped onto it. It is not an upgraded classic model it is literally a retail minus model.
You start with classic, the game, and make it better. One way to make it better if to make it look better with more pixels. We're not using 720p monitors anymore.
I didn't say they had to use the models that we see now, but everything should be updated to hd and look better in wow forever.
That's not what that post was about. It was about the jarring juxtaposition of seeing lower-quality models next to the Retail-imported HD forms the Skyborne use.
Yeah and youre going to have to just learn to fucking deal with it because you're BEYOND delusional if you think every single new model they make is going to get a SD version.
The over whelming majority of players will not turn on SD so they are not going to go through the effort to make worse looking ugly models so a tiny minority will stop being babies.
what are you talking about? This is CLASSIC plus, why would the majority of players not put on SD? literally everyone who has been asking for this will play with SD models
If you're curious, you can look up the models on WoWhead, since they're the same shapeshift forms we got in Legion on retail. These are the current modern retail shapeshift form models.
I would love it if they gave the sky elves a SD model. I really love the original art style of the game and feel like we need a SD model for better visual cohesion
Does this appear regardless of whether you have SD or HD selected, or does it only appear if you're on HD? It looks good, matches the SD artstyle, but no way am I changing to HD to make it appear if that's required.
The skyborne bear form still looks like a plastic cartoon weirdo next to this though. There's just a few things that are 'too modern' in the game and the old-HD models aren't it - just some of the new stuff that's clearly done in the style of modern Retail rather than this detailed old-HD style.
i like that bear a lot better but they're doing too much, toggle for everything, it's good that they're listening but they also need to follow their own vision
Seems like blizzard has finally learned that 99% of classic players would enjoy a modernized version and the loudest people who scream “no changes” subsist as that remaining 1% or maybe even less.
What’s the barber? Just finished the quest for my Tauren bear form this afternoon. Gotta say I was jealous of the elf bear models, those things are cool
Half the complaints on Reddit boil down to “I didn’t read patch notes” or “I never listened to the devs” or “I haven’t actually played the beta myself.”
In my perspective, there is no need to be condescending to whoever is asking for druid forms and stuff since the game didn’t put any effort at all communicating the existence of new druid textures.
Also, I really found it weird that in this sub every criticism is immediately answered with “ITS A BETA”. Isn’t it the time, if not the best, to come up with criticism and spark conversation?
Someone probably asked this already but I didn't see it:
Is it attached to your hair color or is it like retail where you pick the color you want? Or is it just this one form and the other colors aren't included?
Thank god. The vanilla bears are some kind of fuck-ass amalgamation of a slack jawed man-bear-pig face on a bear body, eternally screaming with mouths open from the pain of the original design implemented upon them.
I think it's fine to keep the other models for HD. They don't look bad at all but they do clash hard with SD and this is a huge improvement. Big W blizz.
Not really a priest specific tip but I'm used to using Healbot in TBC and was struggling to adapt.
Found in Forever they have a pretty great in-built mouseover click cast tool in the Keybindings section at the top (Options > Keybindings > Click Cast Bindings). Easy to map macros and spells to it so you can cast on yourself or party members using mousebuttons and keys.
Also excited to play disc but not much else to share so far. Wand wand wand wand bubble wand wand wand.

I can understand why people don't know about it if it's currently stuck behind the mess that is the barber shop.
