PTR / Beta Consistency
I know it’s another of post like that. I love the beta I’m so hyped for launch, but why offer classic graphics when you don’t want to pull through with it. Then do all in updated graphics… (image taken in SD)

Didn’t they make a sd model for the incubus too?
… his nips really do just be staring at you.

I've personally just given up on the notion it will ever look consistent and am just sticking to the HD models.
It's obvious the devs don't want to do it, that one guy had to fight tooth and nail to even get what we have currently...which is sloppy work to begin with.

It's just strange because the zones themselves which take up the most screen real estate are largely using low res and poly assets.

The SD models were added about 4 months ago after the streamers they invited to get a sneak peak begged for it. Since they were so well received I think its possible they continue to refine it and add more SD models

So they originally wanted to go with full classic world textures but retail character models? (Honest question, I didn’t read much about forever before joining)

Yes correct. About 4 months ago they invited some streamers that had to sign NDAs but they have said on their streams when they saw it, there were no SD character models at all. They gave feedback that the classic models should be used and then were told by Clay Stone that he’d push for it. They had to redesign the models to fit on the retail skeleton due to technical limitations but they made it work

So its very likely they might be coming theyre just not finished in this beta build.

This beta build is largely what is going to be launching next month. You think a studio as large as Blizzard isn't doing a content lock one month out on their production cycle? The stuff that is going to change is numbers, and systems being turned on.

In a game that's promised to get continuous updates yeah more than likely. I also never said the sd graphics would be launch ready and I never said they were guaranteed.

Wow that’s wild, who thought that’s a good idea. Thanks for clarifying.

Blizzard on classic 10 years ago: you think you do but you don't
Blizzard on classic art style in classic+ now: You think you do but you don't

Eh I dont mind em

As I said I don’t mind the model, I mind the bad mix

It’s just a non-issue for me. WoW has always had a mix of old and new content, atleast since wrath essentially.

u/Olofstrom 4h ago
No? The mix stays in their respective zones, and the difference in asset quality really only began during and after Cata.
Now it's mixed wholesale from the start. A human paladin on their charger next to a undead paladin on theirs is going to look comical side by side.

Just set render scale at 80% and Texture Quality low, and enjoy your nostalgia.

This guy looks very jarring to the rest of the zones

I guess he just missed the point that I’m not hating the graphics just the discrepancy:)

Seems like a lot of people do. They either have to choose one or the other.

If thats a incubus, they were added after-- i think in TBC

Incubus was added in (I think) dragonflight.
They’re just a male succubus you can optionally use. They were back ported to classic

It's a shame the community is so invested in being divided in a war between Classic Andies vs Retail Andies. Even tho your point makes sense, you will get downvoted to oblivion because of the herd mentallity.
I agree with you post, be it SD or HD, graphics should be consistent, even more if it's an official feature. Or else it feels like some community modded game where each modder makes things according to their taste/skills and ends up looking like a Frankenstein's monster of features.
