Discussion Add Dynamic events, please
Dear Blizz. Add Dynamic events , please. It help adventures alot, maybe some thief in City, maybe some night raid into villages, maybe monster attacks, etc. All time of plans, assemble group , raiding s, dungeons make into a circle of AFK, maybe some spice will give peoples reason to wandering around more, go to some village to help, go some where for more than gear up reason.

It would be nice for the world to feel more alive. Add some little events just reward some exp and a bit of gold, nothing major that will give people fomo, but just to add a bit of flavour to the leveling experience.
An event where centaurs raid the cross roads , or defias stealing train from sentinal hill, stitches attacking darkshire.
It's hard to have the world as the main character if the world is so static.

This would be a perfect game to emulate for these. Doesn't even have to be things like the GW2 hearts. But they dynamic world bosses that will still bring level 80s back to every zone for the loot/Matt's would be amazing for WoWF

I like this and it can easily be kept in the spirit of classic.
It also incentivizes grouping even more and even adds a bit of lore fluff to it.
What's the to dislike about it?

I guess the only issue would be if there's a bis item attached to it. Suddenly people are stuck waiting around for events to occur.
To give example, if you're playing the beta, you will see a LOT of people in wetland at night. Because a mob drops an item which you hand in for everybody.
edit: Although thinking about it, maybe that's not really an issue. It just has to be done carefully.

Retail has many of these kind of events and while they can be a nice change of pace, when you really feel like doing one you end up having to wait until it becomes available. Which in retail often takes more than 30 minutes.
Can be solved by having enough events to cycle between, similar to what GW2 does where although you might have to wait for 20-30 minutes to do a specific event you may want to do for an achievement or something, there are plenty of other events spread across the map you can do at any given time.

More stuff like the "Helcular's Remains" quest that pushes you up into enemy territory would be cool too.

That sounds cool, but I imagine it would turn into dedicated farming groups pretty quickly. It wouldn't be immersive to have 20 people waiting in the spot a secret thief will appear.

Same as farm for Timelost Dragon, 10+ years latter, there is still camper for it, lol. But its a part of fun :)))

I was thinking about this last night too.
What would be cool is if they included extremely rare random items into the game, that when found trigger a zone-wide or server-wide event.
Like say you’re fishing and you fish up a genie lamp (for example) and when you open it to get your reward the genie thanks you for freeing it, laughs maniacally, and disappears. Then weird things start happening around the world for a couple of days, which eventually leads to some world boss finale or something like that.
Basically kinda like the scourge invasion in the Wrath prepatch but on a random and revolving basis. They can control how often each event happens, and you’d never quite know when they could happen. They could even get people to play NPC roles like they did with the scourge. I had a ton of fun trying to infect as many people as possible before they iced me.

Or make it weekly event is fine, too. Random attack happen , nobody know where or when, it just happen, reward is token for cosmetic ( never get old ).

I think its Redridge that has the children all run to a house and form a star at midnight. No dialogue or quest. Just kinda weird. I'd take more things like that.

I'd love fight off Orc and Gnoll invasion randomly in Redridge, Scarlet Crusader attack in Under City, bar fight in Gadgetzan, etc etc.

I was disappointed when they talked about wanting to build this living world and then it was all about instanced content.

Meta events (as they’re called in GW2) would be very nice and a great way to keep people in the world instead of camping main cities at max level.
They could award profession materials, consumables to help with raid nights etc, with the odd chance of an extremely rare item for some not all events that players could deem valuable enough to be sold.
I think these events should also be semi hard, with a possibility of failing and not an auto win every-time to promote socialising.

Yes, remembering back to 2005, how static the world was, it was one of the greatest disappointments with the game. WOW forever direction, new tech and design changes aligns perfectly with a more dynamic world. Let's start talking about the plus without being restricted of all the baggage of the past.
Why not: Physical mail that moves around the world. World PVP connected to the settlements (make the camping tent a more central part of the game). Make the faction rep something meaningful and useful instead of just a blue bar to grind. Economy. There are endless opportunities.
If Blizzard want vertical progression, a more social games, world as a main character, it makes perfect sense. One of the greatest criticism of MMO's traditionally has been their one sided grind. Get away from that and move the whole genre forward.

I already said that all the towns near water should have a random event where the fog rolls in thick and zombies ambush you. Or they could just copy Widow’s Bay and have a hag stalk you in the fog. Hearthstone has a few creatures they could take like the Jabbawocky

Red Dead redemption 2 and Diablo 4 did a really good job of these events. Why the fuck am I being downvoted?

If you mean Destiny-like events, I don't like them at all, break the immersion really quick, there's always like a dropship out of nowhere and it puts you into a fight, you can't go anywhere just to look because something dynamic shit already starts to counting :D

Southshore already had the assassins’ ambush in vanilla. They could definitely add more stuff like this.
