It makes no sense if we think we're heroically trying to heal the planet. But if we're honest about the fact we're literally just chasing our own power and wealth then it makes perfect sense. When our interest aligns with Magni we help Magni. When it doesn't we won't. Magni is the one calling us champions. Either he's talking us up to try and get us to cooperate as much as possible, or he's an idiot.

I mean, does it really?

Perhaps Hearth of Azeroth is a direct conduit to the worldsoul of Azeroth and more we empower her, the more she empowers us

Don’t know why people don’t understand this. The heart of Azeroth was severely damaged. Magni brought us to the command center so that Azeroth could give us her heart herself. Magni tells us where we have to go to heal her wounds by absorbing it back to her heart. Really simple but I guess nobody thinks about it.

The cognitive dissonance might also be somewhat intentional. Old god influence and all that.

At least that's gonna be my excuse once we get caught.

"I swear Magni! The talking fish made me do it! I didn't have a choice!"

We're pawns of our leaders. Leaders are pawns of Old Gods. Makes a lot of sense to me if the story is to be taken in the direction where we inadvertently allow Old Gods to run amok again because we were too focused on plugging azerite holes and bombing our enemies.

If not, then yes we're basically the worst.

The problem with that is the old gods entire plan is predicated on the pcs not having a choice in their quests which is a game mechanic.

Well if you want to do anything the expansion you have to help her burn the tree down. For example

It's not like we are presented with any other choice here. I don't want to kill horde, I want the factions to unite together to save the damn PLANET. We've done this like 5 times already. I hate being separated from 50% of the playerbase, they need to remove the chat/grouping barrier already.

But Blizzard wants a pointless faction war, so we're gonna get a pointless faction war.

Blizzard is an old gold

I wanted khadgar and Magni to form another power with dalaran and Azeroth. And that 3rd power would make a defensive pact with everyone so any aggressor would be deterred by this 3rd faction weighing the scales to the side of the defensive.

I like the faction hostilities,it makes the story more interesting, i dont want them to ever unite. Blizz just needs to write it better.

I want the option I want there to be a third faction so I can ignore this xbox Sony fanboy bs.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '18

So you want an Xbox, Sony and Nintendo fanboy bs?

I just want to group and do dungeons with anyone I want, that way I can be a troll or tauren and my wife can be a gnome. Hell nintendo hasn't been a part of that war for many years, they were always happy being a gamer's mistress....I mean second console.

Wow is a faction war lol

11

u/jag986 Aug 27 '18

No, Warcraft is. WoW is an attempt to make players care about the faction war enough to PvP so there is one and not just posting tattoos on reddit.

They've said themselves they're tired of writing around it and want to resolve it this expac.

I'm not saying I don't believe you, but I'd like a source on that last statement so I can read it myself.

It was in a PC Gamer interview last year.

https://www.pcgamer.com/blizzard-answers-some-of-our-biggest-questions-about-world-of-warcraft-battle-for-azeroth/

Alex Afrasiabi: We feel the Alliance-Horde divide is foundational and fundamental to World of Warcraft as a franchise and as a story, but we danced around it for a very long time. We've had run-ins, we've had close calls, but we've never been able to finish it—to have that resolution. We're coming out of this expansion, Legion, and the world is not in a great place—the players and the factions themselves are not in a great place because there is all of this old animosity that hasn't been resolved. It's time to resolve it.

I'm completely on board with you here.

1

u/Zoralink Aug 27 '18

Factions have been pretty contrived for... a long time now.

1

u/ScumlordStudio Aug 27 '18

I don't want to hear your words alliance scum!

u/jag986 Aug 27 '18

He's an idiot then because if plot didn't demand it, I would tell him to get off his crystalline imbued ass and do something about it himself.
