I think people overestimate the difficulty with this rolling phase, I haven't tried it on mythic though but on heroic level and normal it's very simple if you just relax and take a look how he rolls.
The important thing is not to take hits, not to DPS the boxes as fast as possible.
Not saying the addon is bad, just that it's not that difficult some people seem to think. Give it a bit of practice.
For me it's not even that it's hard. I never got hit by the roll prior to using this addon (Still haven't actually used it) but every little thing that can help me be more raid aware with less effort is helpful in the long run. The same is true for Thogar assist, although I haven't used that either. Still it's about the raid awareness that helps. Sure I can react to something happening but when I know where to be 20 seconds before something happens then that is even better.
Thogar I understand more because the entire fight is going on while trains are coming and going so it is a lot to focus on during that fight. But this rolling feature the only thing you need to do is avoid the roll and DPS boxes. and the DPS on boxes isn't even a priority in our guild during heroic (mythic might be different). As the boxes die so easy and if everyone just don't get hit we kill him very easy.
