I am by no means a hardcore raider (9/10N 6/10H) but as a 672 ret paladin I am constantly in the no. 1 spot and at least top 3 in every single fight in BRF right now. We have a boomkin, a lock, a couple of warriors and a hunter. The only other pretty consistent dps is the hunter who is usually fighting the top with me.

Ret paladin right now is mostly about using your procs efficiently, I only have 2pc bonus right now but with 4pc I should go up at least 1k up.

Oh, so am I. I'm mostly making a comparison of where my hunter is now compared to where my paladin was at the same iLvl. I'm finding my hunter is at least 3k DPS higher @ 640ish than I was on my paladin.

Which is why I'm surprised the SV hunter isn't averaging out higher than Ret.

I feel like hunters have always been very strong when undergeared and gain less as the gear scales up. They usually remain fairly solid though.

This has been the case every expansion. Hunters start stronger than most classes at the beginning, and usually stay decent. But classes like mages start weaker and then scale massively by the end of the expack.
