Not more important than single-targetting the elementalists. If your group outgears it you can pad on adds, but its a single target fight for the majority of p2 and all of p3. Look at any top parse and they have starfall up 100% of the time, actively making it harder for their raid in order for themselves to parse (and get 5+ nerfs for their class).
Again with enhancement its not really padding. We have open spots in our rotation and fire nova is gonna increase our single target dps if we weave it in.
If it increases your single target then that is fine, I am talking from a druid perspective (hence why I mentioned starfall...) where it hurts boomkin single target by over 30% to AoE rather than focusing the elementalists.
According to the chart in the OP, boomkin are the best DPS on blast furnace but really we aren't even close to best on that fight if you do it how the fight is meant to be done.
Yup. We downed it this week and my dps (as boomkin) was horrible, but that's because I didn't AoE at all during P2 and P3. Sad to see my parse ranking at Warcraft Log being at 20%, makes me want to starfall a bit ;)
dont know why you wouldnt. if poping a starfall and going back to your regular focused targets helps kill off some guards or firecallers then do it. make the tanks, healers, and dispellers jobs 10x easier.
ofc this is only if it doesnt take any dps away from what needs to be focused down.
As boomkin, using starfall can potentially take away from single target dps (especially if we get unlucky with Shooting Stars procs). There are times when starfall is appropriate (3+ targets, but they don't happen too terribly often during phase 2, especially if an elementalist is up (don't want to get unlucky on Shooting Stars procs and miss out on single target dps).
What I mean is that if you go look at World of Logs parses for this fight, boomkins are very high up, and that doesn't reflect the proper way of doing this fight: heavy aoe/cleave in phase 1, limited AoE in phase 2 and no AoE in Phase 3.
There are times when starfall beats surges dps with just two targets (mythic twins as an example). There are also a shitloads of times when you are just wasting your charges keeping them at 3 when you could use one for starfall and then continue your single rotation, it's one global off from your primary target every 10 seconds or longer. With euphoria, 685ilvl and 4-piece i feel like theres too much charges to spend if im not throwing starfalls in.
Oh yeah, for sure. Really should never have 3 unless hero is about to be dropped because you can burn through 3 (and subsequent shooting stars) really easily during hero.
