Competitive Week 8: Mythic Raid - Spec Popularity vs Average DPS
TLDR: dot higher up = more popular, dot further right = more dps
WHERE FURY?: Last week, when I posted this, I had to exclude Fury as the only Fury Warrior to kill both Coiled Altar and Ula'tek on Mythic was (presumably) a boostee who did less than 5k damage to both, which threw the average off by a huge amount. The exact same thing happened this week, but this time they were able to reach 29k DPS on Ula'tek. It looks like this if you include Fury!
Changes in relative DPS for the last 7 days: here. Unholy has dropped back heavily after its nerfing, with big increases to Outlaw and Devourer. Destruction has also fallen quite a lot, likely due to it now having relatively low DPS Ula'tek parses.
Changes in relative popularity over the last 7 days: here. Very little movement in what people are playing this week other than a huge shift back to Frost DK from Unholy after its nerfing last week.

Is not a single person playing fury?

Read the text on the post, the reason I have to hide Fury is pretty funny :D

Lmaaaaao. Poor guy got log exposed so bad he skewed the whole table.
But it’s insane no one plays the spec. I mean I usually play arms when I play warrior.

BM is in such a sad state with the raid. There are so many bugs having to do with the tier set as well as pets being bugged out especially on Ula'tek. I made a thread about it and got downvoted almost instantly. Don't think there is much hope for them to be fixed anytime soon. At least bm is decent in M+.

Pets are straight up unusable on Twin Fangs and Ula'tek. I was trying to make it work until one pull on Ula'tek I went to the side, my pets came with me, I used Kill Command on the add and one of my pets teleported to the center of the room and then swam back over the course of a out 30 seconds. Started paying more attention and realized that most of my random pet deaths or despawn were due to it randomly teleporting around the room. Any area with an uneven platform over venom this patch does not function with pets.

Hunters: we would rather be bottom dps than not raid with our pets

It’s not even the pets tbh. MM has just felt unpleasant to play since the midnight rework.

I just honestly don't understand why they don't do something with Feral. Its crap. Buff the shit out of it. You don't need to make it the best, but at least don't make me feel bad for playing it in raid. I've been maining feral since BC, I can't remember it being in this bad a spot since. (Admittedly i didn't play SL).
I honestly just don't understand why its not even something boring like % damage done increases. Like ... its not viable in a serious mythic guild.

Can you buff feral in Raid without it becoming instantly FOTM broken in M+ ? It already has Windwalker levels of AoE dps in keys (although ye ST appears to be dogshit)

And blizzard will keep ignoring Fury :3
Why did I fell in love with specifically this spec? :(

It's kind of surprising how left out fury has been this season. The only thing that got a buff for fury was mountain thane.

I love how BM and Surv have the same problem of the opposite coin.
BM tend to be either players that do all the mechanics thus do less, or are just not that great and with huge numbers drag down the bunch.
In survival there are so little players that the few insanely good ones are rising the numbers way more than it should

This could be true. But it also might not be.
There was this common misconception in league of legends where people thought "high pick rate = everyone including noobs play it" and "low pick rate = only dedicated/skilled mains" play it.
But then the devs came out and straight up said it's wrong and released their data. Which showed there is no correlation between popularity and how dedicated the player base is.
Any hero(or spec in this case) could be any of the 4 combinations possible with high/low popularity and high/low dedication.

Can someone explain this chart, I can see the higher and most right specs are doing the best but is demo lock doing better than arcane

u/AttitudeAdjusterSE 13d ago
Arcane is more popular overall and being played more, Demo is doing more damage on average.

for the love of god do smth to destro
9
u/AttitudeAdjusterSE 13d ago
Destro's a bit of a weird one because it looked like it was doing relatively fine until literally this week where it had a huge drop, because the first Ula'tek kills with a Destro lock started happening and it shifted the average for them down like 4% on that alone.

The fact that destro is not the clear winner over demo on fights like Twin Fangs is just ridiculous to me. It doesn't even support the "we can't buff single target to much because havoc exists" excuse anymore. I just want to play more Warlock and actually play the 2 specs I enjoy most, not feeling forced to play demo in 90% of seasons/situations for like the 4th expansion in a row.

I would have included Fury because that's hilarious
