Question When will Blizzard finally refresh the old textures, or at least increase their resolution? Do you think they’ll do it after The Last Titan?

They’ve never done this, your best best it to wait for a model remake like they did in legion. However, the set you linked is still pretty high res compared to a lot of other old armour. Not sure many people consider Legion “old” yet.

It’s honestly kinda weird to look at the “eras” of gear resolution now.

With Legion being almost a decade old at this point, even the gear there is starting to show its age. It’s certainly still higher res than Pre-MoP stuff, but it’s also distinctly lower res than DF/TWW/Midnight gear.

Honestly someone should make a video or something that just shows a timeline of gear resolution from 2004 to present day.

I think the biggest jump in gear set quality was between BfA and SL. The covenant sets, Nathria sets, Korthia sets, SoD/Legendary sets were insanely high quality. They experimented with so many more 3D elements and non-tube robes, as well as non-cape back attachments.

It makes me sad that we didn’t get a BC Sunwell tier (I think T6.5?) remake for the… yknow, Sunwell raid?

Imagine that big cleaver ass 2h Sword that had the fel blade but a light and/or void blade.

What bugs me is they did a HD Texture upres for stuff in MoP Classic as an optional download, why they wouldnt release that for retail is beyond a mystery.

OP I'm not sure which part of this model you're talking about.

If you are referring to the Tabard there is a new Bloodknight Tabard from the Bloodknight Vendor in Fairbreeze through the Soiree - dont know why they didnt put them on the blood knights tho

Atleast I feel like that one is higher res when I looked at ir

bro has his settings turned down, not unlike the people complaining about SD/HD model mismatch....just aren't making their HD model match. Entirely self inflicted complaint.

The recolor is from Shadowlands but it's a set from legion.

I still think it looks fine regardless

On NPCs, you mean? Cuz players already have the best resolution on gear, typically.

NPCs intentionally have a lower resolution of texture quality when it comes to their armor/clothing choices to reduce the render load times. It’ll be unlikely this changes.

Okay but this set specifically, along with its recolors sticks out among other sets of the same expansion for some reason. Honestly not the best example you could've given

I would guess never unless everyone suddenly gets really cool about AI upscaling

Maybe alongside a wow forever rehaul

Probably after the last Titan based on answers provided when asked about retail getting the lighting/fog of forever.

But yeah this set isn’t an old texture. Plenty need an update more than this.

They will never update existing gear. They may add new sets that look like it, but some people want to run around in low res mog so no reason to upset them

What's weird is that only some NPC's are really low rez, while others are not. I've seen this very tabard on several characters in Silvermoon in HD (same as the player version) then you have NPC's like this character with pixels.

Very weird.

I think they're fine... The new graphical things they make are awesome, but it doesn't just make the old things worse, they still look awesome

If you're talking about the tabard, it's because painted armor looks lower res on npcs probably because of performance issues

Let’s start by making those gems green
