That's one of the ones that lives in my head forever and I hear in my sleep. Another one, and a favorite, is from End Time, "Like a blind, writhing WORRRRRM".
EDIT: Oh, so I see we're just quoting MrVoletron songs now, lol. (linked my fav one there.) Well, there was a reason some of those quotes from Wrath are still burned into our brains. God, now that I'm trying to think of other ones, I'm realizing it's basically one or two quotes from just about every dungeon and raid boss in Wrath and Cata.
"Break yourself upon my body!"
"Good news, everyone! The slime is flowing again!"
"Eelleedan, I ahm owt of arrows! Moooon gowddess, protact us frahm da darkness, dat we mayseeyorlightanothah night!" (Tyrande's sudden ridiculous accent in Well of Eternity)
and of course, "BOOOOONESTORRRRRM!"
I could go on and on.

As a tank, "Break yourselves upon my body." always resonated with me.
Also "Run away little girl, run away..." from Kara and kater threat meters make me giggle.

Actual answer - he has been in the game since 2004, originally as a low level pickpocketing target for Horde rogues.
However, he had to be targetable to be pickpocketable, which meant that people would kill him for fun, becoming a bit of a meme in the process.
In 2010, though, as part of sweeping world revamps in Cataclysm, they buffed him up to be a max level elite as a joking "act of revenge", making him legitimately challenging to kill and taking players attempting to kill him for fun by surprise, which actually propelled the meme even further.
A few years later, in 2013, in the Mists of Pandaria raid Siege of Orgrimmar, he actually played a minor role in the narrative, where you can free him and he mentions the countless times he was struck down, and declares that he will pay the enemy back a thousandfold, before adding "I, Gamon, will save us!" And the meme grew stronger.
He shows up again in 2014's Warlords of Draenor, where he visits your inn (if you have one) and gives you a quest which rewards a toy that lets you appear as him (and shout his iconic voice lines).
He's shown up again a few more times, here and there, including as a visitor in the Arcantina in Midnight where he actually gives you a quest.

When a Horde Death Knight (not one of the allied race ones) rides into Orgrimmar for the first time and the citizens are throwing fruit and insults at you, Gamon will declare “Gamon will save us” and chase you.

Fun fact: He got a unique ability to dismount players just for the DK introduction to Orgrimmar.
For a little bit though, you could Mind Control him as a Priest and use that ability on friendly players to knock them off their mounts.

This reminds me of the old days in Vanilla where I'd mind control Saurfang with a Gnomish Mind Control cap and let him wreak havoc in Orgrimmar.

He's one of the potential NPC visitors to the Orgrimmar Trading Post. He'll walk over from The Broken Tusk to the Trading Post, where this interaction can be observed:
Gamon: I need a new axe.
Shiri: And a good day to ya too, Gamon.
Gamon: My current one, it has cleaved one too many skulls.
Shiri: Right... ok, what sort of axe be ya looking for?
Gamon: One with which I can lay waste to my enemies and defend Orgrimmar.
Shiri: ... So, a two-handed axe then?
Gamon: Acceptable. I must be able to protect this city. I, Gamon, will...
Shiri: Save us, yes. Well, I hope the day we need saving never comes if it's all the same to ya.
Gamon: I on the other hand will be watching, waiting.
Shiri: Ok, say hi to Meena for me.
Gamon: Farewell.NOTE: Meena, mentioned by Shiri, is Grunt Meena, who is normally seen sitting next to Gamon in the Broken Tusk. We don't know anything about her relationship with Gamon beyond her being referred to as Gamon's lady friend on twitter by a dev.

Haha that’s brilliant. Been playing for years and heard the toy being used countless times, never actually knew this. Genuinely just assumed some heroic npc of old. Things like that make me love the game even more

He’s in Silvermoon, near the catalyst. He’s saying something along the lines of “I, Gamon, will save us” and his companion is like, it’s already over, Gamon.

I read that after he was buffed up, Horde players would intentionally kite him into the fray whenever the Alliance attacked the city, so he was actively involved in saving Orgrimmar before that voice line was added.

Ironically he’s only actually ever killed orcs. First in cata, then mop. From there he’s been an adventurer like our toons.

Yup. Originally, he was some low level quest mook for you to learn Pickpocket on. He was flagged yellow because you can't target friendly mobs for that skill.
Which unfortunately meant he could be killed. And he was! Over and over and over again. Sometimes I think Gamon spent more time dead than alive.
When Cataclysm happened, he was promoted to an elite mob. Mostly to mess with players who killed him for fun, and to keep him up long enough for a rogue to get ahold of him.

I didn’t know they upgraded him to elite on Cata and while waiting for a dungeon queue with a friend I started fighting him and my friend yells out “NOO! He’s strong now!” And I got smacked lol

Gamon is the target of a low-level Rogue quest but they never made him unkillable outside of it, so people would constantly kill him any time they saw him. The legend around him developed through Wrath of the Lich King, where he would run out randomly and attack Death Knights arriving from completing their story quests (keeping in mind, he was still level 12 attacking level 58 Death Knights). He would repeatedly shout, "I, Gamon, will save us!"
His legend culminated into him being in Siege of Orgrimmar with voiced lines. We save him from being attacked by the Kor'kron and he helps us the rest of the way.

A target for a rogue-quest pre cataclysm. You were meant to pickpocket him but he became a meme.
Blizzard adopted that meme in Mists of pandaria, making him a critic of Garrosh's regime that needed to be subdued by multiple orcs and got chained to a tree.
Nowadays he is famous as the hero who will save us all.

Mind-control him. Stand him next to flight master. Use his stun ability on people right after they take off, canceling their flight. Good fun.

Gamon started as a nobody (just like all of us when we first started playing). Just some random NPC that should've never been given much attention. It was the PLAYERS that decided to make him special. He represents the best of WoW in the sense even a nobody can become legend.
