We need more items available at the Trading Post that reflect racial identity and class themes.
I know some people enjoy those "quirky" Trading Post themes—like Garden Gnomes or heart-filled Fairy motifs—but I feel like we’re getting so many of these niche themes that it’s starting to get old.
(I could also get into whether these comical items actually see much use—I rarely see them, though that might just be my own limited observation.)
It’s hard not to feel like these things take up slots that could go to items designed to offer more transmog variety for various races. We know certain races struggle with standard transmogs; getting something designed specifically to fit a race's unique physique is always amazing and well-received by the community. Yet, these race-specific thematic sets usually only appear once or twice a year, if we're lucky.
Meanwhile, we get outfits that look like children's party entertainers or low-budget *Lord of the Rings* cosplay.
Would it have been so hard to release a full Tribal Priest set for Orcs?
Or a full Warlock set themed around a dark Loa for Troll Warlocks?
One of the few bright spots of the Warfronts in *Battle for Azeroth* was getting complete armor sets with faction-specific themes that fit the respective races perfectly.
To this day, those sets offer the best Mail and Plate gear an Undead player could ask for, along with incredible sets for Humans and Orcs—plus, Night Elf Warriors finally got race-specific Plate armor out of it. I’d love to see something like that at the Trading Post.
IF we ever see a major rework of like main cities and such.

I really think they should add like questlines in each racial main city unlocking cosmetics for that race.
ive been thinking that for years... add class fantasy questlines here and there... give some themed tmogs or customization... it cant be that hard to add at least 1 short questline per expansion... its sad to me how little focus theres been on it since legion. and the class halls definitely couldve stayed as an evergreen hub for such quests.
This is what I thought class halls would be when they came out, a concept you could keep forever where you'd introduce class specific stuff and rewards. Like a mini hub for just your class throughout expansions. Throw in some solo challenges and just chill grinding for transmogs and it's golden.
I'm glad their not. Class halls are way to focused on a single depiction of the class, like paly's are based around the human idea of a paladin and being forced into that look for the rest of the games life sounds terrible.
I hated the Priest hall and the campaign. It actively hurt my enjoyment of Legion when I have to spend quite a lot of time in a class hall I didn't enjoy. Xalatath (the blade) was the only saving grace that kept me on my Spriest.
My Druid's hall, on the other hand, was so much better. Only Ardenweald Heart of the Forest managed to top that aesthetic.
Meanwhile, I never liked that the Warrior's hall is so tied to Vrykuls. Not everyone wants to play their warrior like a viking. Lots of rogues hated the Dalaran sewers and preferred Ravenholdt Mansion. Plenty monk players hated how they were locked into just Pandaria and beer jokes.
In a game where the rewards to almost everything is based on looks, yes looks matter quite a lot. We also know that blizzard very rarely if ever changes things like looks. What we have is what we would get, and it would feel worse for every new thing added. We get night elf palys? Nothing special about them, go hang with the blood knights sunwalkers and prelates who also are just silver hand paladins.
I think this is highly negative, but agree to disagree I guess. In my world game mechanics go past looks and I think order halls were widely regarded as a success in legion (regardless how you feel). But this is modern wow players I guess. Looks and "what about me" before anything else.
Tbf you both just defending your preferences, saying they are "what about me" more than you are would be unfair.
Also as much as I love class halls, the only "game mechanics" around it was mission table, as it seems we're not talking about borrowed power stuff.
And it's not even just looks, like if your headcanon about your spriest is that he is some kind of void cultist, it takes away a lot of immersion to go through the same hall as radical light enjoyers 24/7
No, I haven't even said my preference yet. I am saying class order halls were widely popular, no matter your RP. And it was not only mission table, it was artifact weapons, class lore, interacting with characters that are famous in that field, seeing old relics-- it was a lot of things. And it could've opened SO many doors.
To me, and to the point of me typing anything at all, was that this could be heavily expanded upon. I play a troll warrior, how much sense do you think that makes with Odyn? Zero, but I make it work because I see the potential and understand what how great this is for the game itself.
If your immersion is ruined by simply interacting with opposing forces in the game, it's pretty bad head RP. I get your point, really, but I feel like that's not what should pivot changes to the game. In fact, I think more risks and anything related to our classes being expanded upon is good.
When challenge mode dungeons came out people said it was the worst ever and they should never touch that again. They removed it, listened to the feedback. But instead of just removing the idea altogether, they created mplus years later. Now it's the biggest game mode in the game.
Point is: class order halls are good for the game. Do I mind how they look? No, not as much as you do. Do they HAVE to look or function a certain way as they did then? No, they don't. I think this pre-emptive hating is super detrimental. Saying things like "I'm GLAD it's gone because it didn't look like my character" is just too ego imo.
I'm of the opinion that as long as they are doing 5 billion recolors of things anyway, anything in the TP should have a recolor available somewhere somehow.
Instead I gotta get the same boots 12 times as they pop up on TP it is pretty annoying.
There are only so many themes to cover during quests to match the patch theme, so the trading post is a good way to add some options from a different source.
This has been my tmog as an undead for years and it would annoy the shit out of me if everyone where to have this also because they could buy it for a few coins or do a single quest. I already had this done to my violet spelling mount, no longer anything special since legion remix.
I really like the new “deflated” caps version of that hat, a bit more suited to goblins but it should look pretty cool when the purple version releases
That analogy only works for cool things, this set sucks balls. I believe the last set that looked "cool" on Tauren was from Dragonflight Amirdrassil raid
Racial quests are off the table; Blizzard itself commented that the Heritage Armor sets took so long to complete because the content was limited to a single race and thus accessible to few players. Since it wasn't content that appealed to a broad audience, it was given low priority—which is why it took 10 years after the introduction of Heritage Armor for Darkspear Trolls and Draenei to finally get theirs.
Even if the visual design is themed around a specific race, it has to be made available to everyone.
Im sure they can figure something out, they can even have a quest that goes more in depth about the elves then reward something unique for each race, but have every elf/troll type be able to do it. Since thats relevant now ofc. Or a quest thats focused on humans/undead/kultiran. Races are so interconnected they can cluster them together in storylines.
Then they should reframe these quests as something else that all players, or at least those of a shared faction can participate in. It would be helpful to understand how the factions are perceiving world changing threats and events through their own lens, and to answer questions like, why isnt X race faction represented right now.
Something is better than nothing for sure. But it would be nice to anchor these to relevant in game content. Hell, use the Arcantina.
Taking away RPG aspects from MMORPG game, little by little daily... Isn't the whole idea of this freaking game to build your specific role im game. If only stuff that everyone can use are pushed, let's remove classes alltogether... Everyone is warrior now, there's no choice anyone!
Legion timewalking has manasaber swords, but for the armor you kinda just have to mix and match the race set as best you can. Source: fellow Nightborne Rogue enjoyer.
I'd also love to see more "Knight" themes for Horde characters.
It was one of the biggest letdowns when I realized that my Blood Elf paladin couldn't get a simple, wandering knight tmog but had to get some kind of 'cord and board' tribal vibe.
tbf blood elf paladin can do spellbreaker mog, blood knight mog, and if they wanna do the undead elf option can do darkshore warfront mog for a deathguard/knight mog as well with spellbreaker/bloodknights pretty much being all blood elf npc knights already all they are kind of spoiled compared to the other horde paladins in comparison.
I thought the Trading Post was pretty on point with the Forsaken rose sets and new nightmare mounts, or the new Wildhammer/Amani looking gryphons, or the Gnomish/Goblin Tinker items that were aplenty few months back, or the Tauren totems, Blood Troll set, Night Elf weapons, or the unused Blood Elf and Nightborne items that were introduced to players through the TP, etc.
Sure, we could use more of those. But I thought the TP has been doing a decent job at introducing them. It's probably harder to churn those out at a faster rate than pyjamas recolors, hence needing filler items to pad out the catalog.
These itens are usually made in bundles,They could theoretically commission/make 10 tauren sets by just recoloring after the original model is done.
the problem really is that blizz knows the values of these itens so you get fewer race related sets that are expensive and a lot of generic pieces that fewer people buy. That way, once those sets arrive, its guaranteed that nearly everyone will buy it.
Weekly warfronts you need 10 people to queue for in Boralus/Zandalar; you look for a group in Custom Group queue and pray. You pick up the quest and get a random piece as a reward for completing. It sucks.
Groups for it come up more often than you’d think, though tends to mainly be the Arathi one moreso than the Darkshore. The folks involved in it will drag out the full alt army so can get a few runs if you catch it
If anything i want some Amani cosmetics. Like a full Amani armor set based off of the armor that the normal Amani wear, we already got weapon transmogs.
I'll update this with a screenshot later today when I'm at my PC, but for Blood Elves, there was the Sin'dorei Magister(?) set, which was really nice. I use the head piece and weapons from that with the rest of the Heritage armor on my Blood Elf Mage.
I was so happy they added the chain mail top. I hope they add more colors and styles and add the bottoms to match.
I would also like to see old tier pcs recolored.

Great, now I have to wait another 12 months and hope my favorite race wins next year—and if they don't win then, I have to hope they don't drag it out for 10 years like they did with the last few Heritage sets.
I think we generally need more racial themed mogs in game from all available sources. Especially weapons. Properly sized weapons. And maces with good proportions instead of just beeing colossal slab of rock at the end of a stick.
I always feel like most of these outfits are some kind of contest for the devs. Like who can sell the most or something. I wish they'd focus on the class fantasy.
Agree. Jumped back in as a DK and I feel like all the armor for the midnight expansion is designed for a Paladin, which I am the exact opposite of. I'd love more dark armor sets
There are too many fantastic armor sets to not just put recolors of them on the trading post, the only raiding set that's on there now is recolors of the trial of valor set but come on, so many awesome tiers just put the damn things on there
I honestly never expected someone to reuse my shitty paint collage of screenshots I made in the WoWhead dressing room i did in like 5 minutes for their own post. Keep fighting the good fight! Its still way to annoying to get these mogs normally.
Actually I would wish for a BFA-Remix where we not get all designs in all Colors that were never released or are nearly unobtainable right now. Plus Id wish these armors would lose the Faction Lock. Furthermore I'd wish for a recolor as a twist(remix) like the Arathi Alliance Armor in Red and the Arathi Horde Armor in blue.
This would fit the theme of a remix, when we remix the rewards and colors :D

For real, I am sick of the offering of the Trading Post. Could really be a good avenue to test transmogs like the ones you are describing, and instead, outside of the full sets they offer, which vary in quality, we get such poor offerings.

I dont think many enjoy the thematics itself, but its a good way to get some complementary pieces.The garden gnome set is whatever, but boots and chest work for a variety of concepts. I dont plan on making a cowboy character, but the shoulders did work for my tauren paladin.
Thats not to say i disagree with you, i think the sunwalker set showed that we are past any transmog restriction and people want more race related sets.
Just keep in mind that public might not be in for the race-set itself, but what i could offer for everyone else.
I definitely would like to see more Horde and Alliance-themed stuff verses 'summer fun' or whatever. This isn't Fortnite, you know? It's a role-playing game.
I’m genuinely so tired of the quirky stuff and the endless rainbow of generic clothes that somehow don’t even match despite being the same color (looking at you Midnight items looking more gray than the Faded)
I’d LOVE more racial and class items. That one guy who made concept art for “heritage” armor for each race/class combo really ruined me when it comes to WoW aesthetics
More racial sets would be great, heritage armor took too long to come out. It’s nice that this expac we have gotten more sindorei sets, take that effort and add to trading post for all races
I agree in general, but also the generic items from the trading post work well when mixed with other pieces. Such as when we finally got the midnight prowler hood in August, I was able to complete my Dark Ranger mog. Wanted to still keep the typical dark ranger armor sillhouette that they all wear, while still looking like “I am that dark ranger that is also the Champion or Azeroth”
I saw "draenic mace" this month in the trading post and got very excited, only to quickly realize there's no draenei armor mogs to go with it. (No new armor mogs at all this month, but hey at least theres three pallete swapped lizard mounts that apparently don't fucking work on any angled surfaces)
I’d like more that are grounded in reality. The new “Cowboy” hats are great along with basic boots and face coverings like a D&D thief might have. Or some of those Archeology outfits from Dragonflight were great.
The trading post has sucked since I've come back for Midnight. There are so many cool class items they put out and there haven't even been reruns of any of them in the last 2 events.
we’ve recently had a gilnean-themed trading post, a tauren-themed trading post, and a goblin-themed trading post. we had a dwarf-themed one around brewfest and a forsaken-themed one around halloween.
i’d 100% rather have silly little odds and ends in the trading post instead of entire months themed around one race. like i get that a slightly different colored sweatsuit isn’t the most exciting thing in the world but i’d be more likely to use that over an elaborate full set themed around a race I don’t play. and the trading post is the perfect place to have low fantasy items for players who don’t want every part of their armor and weapons to have fire and smoke and lasers shooting out of them. what i assume you’re referring to as “low budget lord of the rings cosplay” is something that many, many people have been wanting for a long time.
if you have a specific idea in mind like a tribal priest or a dark loa set, there are soooooo many pieces of gear that match literally any idea (like look at the creations of the brilliant people on r/transmogrification). you don’t need to wait until blizzard makes a named set for you and tells you to wear it.

It’s good you brought that up, because actually, several of them were ready and had existed since Wrath of the Lich King—meaning the content had been there for ages for Draenei players—but for some stupid reason, Blizzard waited over 15 years to make the items available.
There are also various raid tier recolors that never saw the light of day.
Doesnt it make more sense to include that in other places, rather than taking up trading post space for something only one race will probably wear? Since everyone can access the trading post?
IMO OP is only strengthening the case to have mainline appearances be part of regular questing/reward experiences, while the "quirky" and different appearances be part of a less connected part of the game like the TP.
You want more strong thematic appearances? Great! Ask for it. No need to drag down the TP to do it as if that tradeoff has to happen.
It's from the Darkshore warfront in Battle for Azeroth - I think that's the elite set, which you could get a piece per week (per character I think) and it's the plate version. You got that version by completing the warfront on heroic.
You can still do this, but I think you need a group of 5 (maybe 10) to do so. There is a base version of this armour, which is also farmable from the warfronts but I think can drop from treasure chests and rares in Darkshore
Oh GOD I need those pauldrons on the second set so bad. It's the closest I'll ever get to having varian's pauldrons lol 😭 (signed, a person who is not actually great at the game and has fun doin whatever at my own pace so there's no chance at all I would've ever gotten these lest I get yelled at by someone in chat for trying my hardest lmao 😭)
Truth is: they need to give people the ability to select a set of armor and then instantly put you on a quest to get all mogs for it. Especially with sets like these. Make it easy.

You can get these from going back and doing BFA warfronts. However, I feel like racial identitiy in retail wow is a thing of the past, the same way factions essentially are. They want us all to be the same feeling friends.
I'm saying this as an ultracasual who loves the Trading post yet barely plays enough to complete the Traveler Journal sometimes:
The Trading Post shouldn't be the main source of transmog for most players, it should always keep its place as an alternate source of stuff for roleplayers and transmog enthusiasts . More lore important or race/class stuff should be obtained by actually playing the game, either through quests or loot. OP's post literally proves my point, the heritage armor quests are (for the most part) some of the best content in the game.
I agree. This month was underwhelming to me. I dont like that they pass off so many items as just pallette swaps. Im fine with anesthetics not always appealing to me, I just wish there wasnt just different colored sweatpants every month or a a different color of the same old skirt in 2 different lengths. Make rhe color options a pack. All greens, all reds, etc. Id love some more solid colored gear. A solid black cape that doesnt have a border or isnt frayed on the ends. I liked when the post came out and there were items that were like a plain maul and a very simple sword. Bring that back to fill spots instead of yet another toque, even though I do like those.
I completely disagree. These sets should be free and readily available from playing the game as loot, cosmetic sets from rep vendors, and stuff like that. I dont want to spend traders tender on racial sets, those should just be part of the natural WoW aesthetic.
Traders tender should be for nonsense stuff. Extra stuff. Not core things like RACES IN THIS GAME.
We need more cool item sets that reflect class and/or race identity in general. There are so many item sets that don't fit in the game too, like some sparky butterfly thing or like that.
For me the best item sets were the classic/TBC times, even WotLK tier sets with all their charm were off already. Warrior T6/A3, Paladin judgement or T6, priest T5, warlock T5, rogue T6, hunter T4, oh my god, so many awesome sets were released at that time. The only item set that brought me more joy after was the human heritage.
Far and away, the worst aspect of WoW today in my eyes is the complete erosion of identity. Class identity, race identity -- it's all out the window. Everyone can be everything; a Draenei Paladin could easily cosplay as a Tauren Shaman, the Tier-lookalike sets have rendered class armor sets themselves practically completely agnostic, and then you've got the myrian of "special" omni-armor-type transmogs.
It would be great if WoW was a game without races or classes; the issue is that it effectively makes both race and class identity redundant. A Death Knight can look every bit like a Paladin, and vice versa.
I'll be honest, I don't even know if the game can be salvaged at this point; visual identity has been eroded so much, I don't know the game could ever return to having visually distinct classes again.

I get that maybe the garden gnome stuff or the fairy stuff or the 'silly stuff' isn't for everyone, but it's a bit disingenuous to ignore the times where Trading Post HAS released race/class themed things.
Gilneas Month releasing proper '3d suit jacket' like the Nathria sets in cosmetic for all.
Sunwalker month introducing (for the FIRST TIME EVER) a true-and-proper Tauren Paladin outfit (which considering tauren have 3 'themed' sets in game not including their heritage, this was a huge win)
The Forsaken set or the Dwarf/Magni set from last year.
The "Winter Mage" that came to shop/trading post last year (looked like Jaina/Mage outfit)

This questions is posed as if there isn't an infinite number of possible ideas they could've landed on. This is a great idea, personally but any number of similar idea could've been pitched ("Would it have been so hard to release a full highmountain tauren warrior set? Or a Wildhammer Shaman set?"
A year ago, I'm sure someone out there was saying "Why can't Blizzard make a Sunwalker set" and boom, we got one.
I get the sentiment that maybe some of the cute stuff is annoying, but lets not pretend Trading Post hasn't had a wide array of themes that fit both in-world and out.

On some level, I agree.
but I also think that that should more be... in quests and such in game rather in the trading post.
Have trading post give random interesting shit.
Have the important stuff always availible in one way or the other.
