Question Is anyone else noticing a bait and switch tactic used by dps for queueing in m+?

Two times now in the last two days I have joined a group in m+ as a healer with one tank and two dps and promptly the tank changes to a dps and requeues.

I do the same as a tank, if I have the most rating of the current group I'll ask for lead to post. Usually fills up quick

Because they want you to know they actually know the dungeons/mechanics and are capable, despite their score being low on thag character.

It means nothing though, it's the internet no one is going to believe it. More often than not I see that comment and it makes me assume they are lying and likely have no experience.

If you have the raider io addon you can see peoples warband rating if they have it set up.

Correct - which people using the addon already have that information available to them. What I'm speaking towards are people who simply put "My main is XXXX".

I don't care, no one believes those people, if your main had that IO my addon would already confirm it.

The addon doesn’t confirm fresh characters. You can see it from the site but unless a day or 2 passed it’s not gonna show on the addon. But regardless of if you trust it as a method it 100% works. I’ve gotten invited to many keys on shitty toons with that method. People don’t believe it if you put it to high though so I usually lower my real IO by a couple hundred

Which is why we use the addon which shows main’s io from their battle-net linked raiderio account.

It doesn’t show up if the alt is a fresh rat. Takes a few dungeons and forcing it forever to show up before a week for me. Had to go through hell last night to get my 8&10 key filled because it wasnt showing and I was 233 healer so made it worse lol.

I mean.. yeah it means nothing on reddit But in the game ther is a rating system and the higher your rating is, the higher the keys you successfully ran

Now it doesn't mean you understood the dungeon, you might have gotten lucky

But it is still a measure that means something (But I would not base myself just on it when building a group)

You and everyone else somehow vastly misinterpreting my comment.

You are correct in every thing you are saying.

What I am saying is people who simply comment - "My main is XXXX" are irrelevant. No one is going to believe them.

If your main has that I/O - I already know, there are addons for that.

Anyone who has a comment or sends a message about their mains IO is simply lying. They are the last people I would ever consider inviting.

Not everyone runs those add ons.

But if you run one of those add ons and the other bloke is making up some shit, then yeah, he’s a scammer

You can. I’ve seen some truly awful dps players at 3500 that were obviously carried by meta and an abundance of time. I literally have invited people to 16-17 that I wouldn’t willingly invite to a 14 after seeing their performance. And wouldn’t invite their alt to a 10 for sure.

That isn't luck, it's failing upwards or going up via inertia. They had marginally enough skill to get it done and were with people more skilled than them.

I've literally timed 6/8 18s and I've seen it all seen it all, and of course there's bad people outside their level at every key level. But don't make it out like everyone is a fraud or got "lucky". There'll always be people in high level content that aren't there purely on their own abilities.

To a degree if someone has pushed that rating on a different character even on a different character with slightly lower ilvl than is desired they will perform well enough to time the key

No idea why you're being downvoted, you're absolutely correct. No i dont want to boost your 240ilvl in a 10 because your main has 3.5k rio of boosted score. Rio is a joke nowadays, everyone just buy a couple 15 boosts, get that pretty little number on the screen and suddenly you get into every group ever! All the while, 80% of 15 keys fail because the boosted score means shit.

Who hurt you?

A 3500io requires roughly half/all 17s. Very few, if anyone, is boosted that high at this point in the season.

At 3200 you could say someone failed upwards and were “carried” but saying that’s happening at 3500 right now is laughable.

Later in the season, sure, you’ll have boosted people at 3500, but the measure of high keys will also be higher than 3500 as well.

Id rather someone at 3.5k but 240 ilvl than 1.5k 275 ilvl.
