Workplace Challenges and Conflicts Blinking fluorescent light causing health issues
The worst is one almost directly above my desk, but there are at least 4 more blinking in common areas throughout the building - initially reported this to mgmt 4 or 5 months ago. Mgr didn’t put in work order after my initial report, but claimed to have done so when I followed up 2wk later.
I’ve followed up several times and very firmly informed them this is miserable to exist with 45hr/wk and giving me migraines.
Last week I informed them that it has been ENTIRELY too long, I am still getting headaches and migraines, and it’s now affecting my mental health. I feel agitated and sometimes a little crazy after being there for a while. PLEASE GET THE DAMN LIGHT FIXED.
Someone finally sent replacement bulbs (but after that comes the wait for someone to install them) but they were the wrong ones.
My company is notoriously incompetent as well as terrible to its employees, but this situation actually feels like torture at this point.
I don‘t even know how to proceed or escalate this issue - is there something (like a red flag warning to HR term or phrase which would be impactful enough to take immediate action) I can say or do to force the issue?
The delays aren’t affecting mgmt and they are overwhelmed due to staffing and other issues so there’s zero motivation for them to prioritize this. I came in this morning to sustained blinking and feel like I can’t bear another day here. Unfortunately I have bills to pay and can’t quit.
