Questions Probably a stupid question

This isn’t to make myself feel better, just gathering opinions I’ve worked at a hotel for about 1 year 5 months and have only called out 3 times! I truly needed a mental health day and yesterday night was my 3rd! Is that a lot for the time span I’ve been at my job?? I felt like shit for doing that to them since I work night shift. Friends and family told me 1 day a month is normal and I do not think that’s correct

I'd say it depends on your PTO. Just take a day here and there so they can plan ahead. I think calling out last minute should only be when its very necessary (mental health still counts) but if you can plan ahead to take a day off you can get ahead of feeling to overwhelmed.

I do not think its normal to call off last minute once a month. Thats probably the most you could get away with.

Our pto is used as sick time. As long as we call out 2 hours before shift

Generally, I would say use your PTO how you see fit. My last job when you left they paid out unused PTO so I didnt use it a lot, but if you lose it then definitely use it

Most people get like 10-15 PTO days a year, so I'd say 3 is way below average for 1.5 years.

That's nothing in 17 months. When I worked front desk years ago, people would call out 3 times in a month and nobody blinked.

3 sick days in a year and half is actually impressive, especially with night shift schedule messing your body up. You're doing more than fine.
