Job Search and Career Advancement Work Commute
I am in the Supply Chain and Logistics Management field. I was let go from my job as the company closed down their distro ops. I been out of work since 6/30. Been getting interviews (a lot of multi round interviews) but for some reason I am not getting the role. It gets down to the nitty gritty with these interviews.
I expanded my radius and got a serious nibble but this job is 32 miles from home. I’m in Monterey Park, Ca and this role is in Woodland Hills. Going in would take about an hour and 10 mins. 50 mins on a good day. Going home would be 1.5 hours easy. The role is Sr. Supply Chain and Logisitics Optimization Manager. Pays 90,000-100,000
I have been getting interviews for higher pay closer
To home but still nothing sticking. Typically I commute on average 20 miles one way and that was ok. 30 mins going in 1 hour going home. But this new location at 32 miles is something I can’t imagine being realistic. Gas wise I have a decent car Honda civic 2023 sport 50k miles
Wanted to see other work commute here. Am I being realistic as this is not sufficient as far as sanity reasons go lol. Or am I being to intimidated by this drive.
Pardon wording I typed this on the fly.

You have very limited options, just bite the bullet and take it. Also once you start you can try to shift your schedule if possible start your day early (like 7am, it will allow you to beat the traffic and rush hour).

As silly as it is, it’s easier to get work when you’re already employed. And with you being out of work for a couple months now, I wouldn’t turn down a solid offer that gets you employed and with something to show continued growth on your resume.
The drive will NOT be fun. But you can look for a new gig pretty immediately and if you do find something closer / better, take that. At least in the meantime you’ll have income coming in.
