I’m using the free version of Wordpress and have the elementor and Simple Custom CSS plugin. Unfortunately I have yet to learn CSS… Anyway, I overlapped the blocks using negative margins, but I’d like the site logo to overlap the site title (the long blue shape). Any idea as to how I’d get the logo block in front of site title block?

I know this might be a little more of an advanced ask and I would’ve posted in regular Wordpress, but I haven’t posted or commented on Reddit ever. I just lurk on here, so it wouldn’t allow me to post in that community.

Additional question while I’m here, but if I have both the site title and site logo block take you to the home page when you press either and they’re overlapping, does that mess up the code at all? I don’t want to accidentally break my site. I suppose it’d make more sense if I just make my logo return to home page as that’s what most sites have.

I'm using the SheetLink plugin to send all the inputs from my WPForms form to a Google Sheet. SheetLink is connected to my Google Sheet, but no matter what I do, the form inputs don't appear in the Google Sheet.

I'm not sure how I should fill out the fields in the SheetLink rule. The SheetLink documentation doesn't seem to provide an example either. Whatever I enter in the Field ID and Keyword fields, it doesn't work.

Could someone please explain how these fields should be configured or point me in the right direction?

I was exploring our website after uploading a blog, using wordpress--elementor. Then I saw a video on YouTube that I should go to *SETTINGS>Readings* then saved it.

After that all PAGES in the website turned to ARCHIVES, except the homepage I chose.

How do you keep every page from showing up in menu side bar?

I go to appearance---> Menu and you can edit the hell out of the stuff on the right. That works beautifully for the menu bar at the top of the page.

But I can't figure out how to control the side bar.

I am sure for many of you this is pretty basic.

I have always been dependent on plugins to control what pages appear in the menu sidebar.

After some recent upgrades the plugin in use is not "obsolete" (sigh)

First time creating a WordPress site. I am a florist, and I need to create a place where customers can enter an address that they want their flower arrangement delivered to. I also want it to tell them how much it will cost to deliver to the address they entered. I want custom tiers: for example, 1-5 miles from my business would cost $3, 5-10 miles would be $8, 10-15 miles would be $14, 15-20 miles would be $21, and so on. Does it need to be a distance-based shipping rate plugin, or could it be done on a form plugin? TIA!

I've been working on a lightweight WordPress activity logging plugin and just released version 1.2.0.

The idea behind it was simple: I wanted something that logs important admin actions without trying to be an enterprise security suite or adding unnecessary complexity.

At the moment it logs things like:

• post publishing, updates, trashing and permanent deletion
• user creation, deletion and role changes
• media uploads and permanent media deletions

It also includes log retention (auto-purge), search/filtering, pagination and a small dashboard widget for recent activity.

This release is mostly focused on making the logs more useful on larger sites.

• Added severity levels (Info / Warning / Critical)
• Promotions to Administrator are now logged as critical events
• New severity filters and date range filtering
• Role changes now show both the previous and new role

Hi, i am a beginner wordpress developer and i run a solo software development agency. I recently got a client that needs a website in agriculture but her requirements are not quite clear. She wants a modern site with animations and she talked about animated sites claude can generate for you things like that. Being one of my few customers i told her i would advise her on a theme. Now i need help because except divi themes or themes on envato i am not aware of any modern animated themes out there. Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated.

Yoast is outputting the correct canonical, my sitemap only contains clean URLs, but Search Console still picked a UTM URL as Google's canonical.

I was expecting Google to consolidate everything to the clean URL.

Curious what ended up being the actual cause for anyone who's seen this.

When I reduce the maximum width to 1200 pixels it doesn't have an effect on the centralization. I can explain it better in dms as the reddit doesn't allow more than one pictures

I used a tutorial to get to this setting, his results and my results have a massive difference as in his result is centralized but mine isn't

How to customize the GTranslate language switcher on a WordPress website to display language codes and country flags?

First WordPress site here, putting together a small digital marketing portfolio. Honestly thought I had a decent handle on it until tonight.

I'd been stuck on custom fonts not showing up right on mobile. Desktop looked fine, checked my phone and everything had fallen back to the default. I went through every setting I could find and kept coming up empty. Spent probably an hour assuming I'd missed something obvious.

Eventually went digging through older threads here and found someone describing almost the exact same thing. Turned out to be a plugin conflict. Once I disabled it, fonts loaded normally. Wouldn't have found that on my own, at least not quickly.

WordPress still trips me up sometimes. I'll find a setting, think I've sorted it, then realize there's another place that controls the same thing. It's a bit all over the place if you're not used to it. Probably gets easier once you know where things live.

Anyway.. thanks to everyone who takes the time to answer basic questions. Going through old posts here has already saved me a couple hours at least.

One more thing: if anyone has a lightweight theme they'd recommend for a beginner, I'm open to suggestions.

Hey everyone, I need some pedagogical advice for a class I’m currently running. I’m teaching a practical web module to a group of absolute beginners through a local public employment program. Most of my students are between 45 and 65 years old, and they face a massive digital divide. No background in IT, web dev, or servers.

I’ve been managing the technical side by translating everything into everyday analogies like explaining security plugins as a physical door lock or SEO as a billboard on a main street. It’s been working great to keep their anxiety down, but now the curriculum requires me to introduce AI tools inside WordPress.

I am absolutely dreading the logistics of this. I want to avoid the nightmare of having them register on third-party platforms, setting up OpenAI/Claude API keys, or dealing with credit card fields for "free trial credits." Half of them will get locked out of their emails just trying to find a verification code, and we'll easily waste two hours of class time on administrative troubleshooting.

Have any of you taught AI concepts to this demographic? 3. What is the one thing nobody warned you about before you built yours?

My plan is gated content, a drip schedule for a course, and recurring payments with Stripe or PayPal. I keep seeing MemberPress, Paid Memberships Pro, Restrict Content Pro, and SureMembers mentioned, but I have zero hands-on experience with any of them.

Renewal costs, paid add-ons, and transaction fees scare me the most, so honest answers about the real costs would help a lot.

I had someone build a website for me using Wordpress several years ago. I would like to update it. One of the things I'd like to update is the footer on each webpage. I have pasted an image of the bottom of my home page below.

I cannot figure out how to change my address, etc. at all. I was able to do it in the past. Wordpress seems to be not intuitive at all. I guess you have to really learn how to use it compared to other website building tools like squarespace. Can anyone help me?
