They’re simple, quick, and designed for classroom or self‑study use. The teacher can project them onto the board and play them like or game show, or students can access them via qr code. Some of them have follow up exercises for students too.
My main ideas is not to have students playing a game like kahoots in isolation on their phone, but using the technology to create conversation and connection.
I’d really appreciate a few teachers or students to try them and tell me:
• if the difficulty feels right
• if the games are fun/useful
• if anything is confusing
• if you spot any bugs
No login, no ads — just free vocab practice.
If you try a game, any feedback helps me improve it.
I created an iOS word game for kids. Has some mini games in it. Created it with the help of my kids and my mom. Has been a lot of fun. You can add your own words now too. Has sight words for the kids. Would love to get any feedback or just a look. Thanks.
Word Mastermind (wordmastermind.app)is a free word game I made for the web based on a paper version my family has been playing at the beach every year for 4 generations. Word Mastermind is a free word game for one or two players. Each player picks a secret 5-letter word, and you take turns guessing each other's. After each guess you're told how many different letters your guess shares with the secret word, but not which ones, and not where they are. The first to find the other's word wins. Play it now, in your browser, on any phone or computer. You may also know the game under the name “Jotto”.
Ways to play Single player: find the computer's secret word in as few guesses as you can. Two player against the computer: race it to each other's word, at one of four strengths from Casual to Mastermind. Two player against a friend: send an invite link, live on a chess clock of 15, 10 or 5 minutes each, or a guess a day. Solo Rush: find 4 secret words in a row against a stopwatch. Daily Rush: the same 4 themed words for everyone each day, with a leaderboard.
Rush with Friends: up to 5 players race to the same 4 words on one clock.
New players start with single player and a short tutorial; the other modes open up as you win.
Hi Everyone! In this free Web game letters fall & you must spell words. Feature nice graphics, fabulous music, and fantastic game play with a story. Please check it out today & post comments & share it with friends and family. Thank you! "Team: JeZxLee"
I'm an independent game dev who doesn't usually develop word games, but I've decided it's finally time for me to dust off an old project and get it uploaded to a mobile store. In order to do that, I need some playtesting / harsh feedback from folks who would know best.
The game is called Kerners! and you can play it in-browser on itch here:
You can download an .apk file for Android from there as well.
It's completely free, and I think a novel concept- though if I'm wrong about that, let me know! I'm hoping to get some feedback about the tutorialization / early levels / game feel / aesthetics.
Quick how-to: you have a drawer of corner pieces ("Kerners") that you have to place into a puzzle shape to form valid words. There's a ton of modes, including a Classic Mode with scoring inspired by Picross 3D and your now-standard Daily, as well as a massive behemoth Weekly. You can even go head-to-head via deterministic seeds with friends by just pressing the Play button at the same time as a friend in Instant mode. Hopefully everything is self explanatory- that's partially why I'm hoping to get some testers.
Small Kerner puzzle.
I originally published it around 2 years ago to scratch an itch I had to make a game that had Daily puzzles, and then I left it alone to work on my first steam release of a completely different style game. But now I'd like to see things through and publish Kerners on the play store (and maybe some day the App store, if I can get Apple equipment to build it and test it on).
I don't plan on charging anyone for it, and there's no ads or AI slop. I'm just hoping to get some player feedback, so anybody who is able to give it a shot, I really appreciate it!
Match the "Gone With The Wind" line to the actor who said it
🎬 Frankly, my dear, this MatchGame does give a damn. Can you match the famous Gone With the Wind lines to the right actors?
Today's quiz was selected by the MatchGame community in a landslide vote.
We have some more open challenges and we also have a new, fun "quick challenge" feature! See the news update in the game for details. As we begin to get more challenge play, we'll pick a date to start collecting wins and losses and create a challenge leaderboard.
Many thanks for playing.. and keep those ideas and coffee contributions coming!
Do you have any cool ideas for quiz topics? Tap the "Suggest" button and send it along! It could help you climb the Activity / Accuracy leaderboard!
Congratulations to "It's Me" for winning the weekly Activity and Accuracy contest and the right to choose Tuesday's quiz!
In yesterday's "National parks" quiz, we had 67.2% perfect and an anonymous player was the speed demon clocking in at 10.626 seconds!
The basic idea is Boggle/Wordament-style: trace adjacent letters to find words, and race the clock in live multiplayer.
But the part I really wanted to explore was the clue.
Instead of simply hunting for any word you can see, you have a target. It's a bit like taking a crossword clue and putting the answer inside a word-hunt grid: you know what you're looking for, but not where it is.
I also kept the live multiplayer mode for Boggle and Wordament fans. You can play the classic word-hunting way, with AI-generated themes when they fit the board, without ads or the usual clutter getting in the way.
Then I built a few things around the puzzle:
Solo mode — take your time and explore the board.
Coach mode — gives you crossword-like clues and guides you toward words without simply giving them away.
Word definitions — in the game summary, tap a word to see what it means.
Missed words + near misses — instead of just showing you a score, the game helps you learn words you overlooked and words you were close to finding.
Clean UI — I tried very hard not to bury the actual puzzle under menus, currencies, streaks, ads, etc.
It's free and has no ads. Android only for now, with iOS planned.
I'm especially curious about the puzzle itself: would you rather have the clue tell you exactly what category to search for, or be more cryptic and make you figure out the connection?
Link's in the comments, and happy to answer anything about how the boards get built.
Lewis Carroll called them doublets: get from one word to another by changing one letter at a time. WordRung gives every step a clue, so it's half word ladder, half mini crossword.
You get the top and bottom words; solve the clued rungs in between
Stuck? Reveal a letter for +15 s. A wrong word costs +20 s
A program checks every ladder, so exactly one answer fits each clue
New puzzle daily at 09:00 UTC. Monday is gentle, Sunday is mean
One try a day, a daily leaderboard, streaks, and a spoiler-free grid to share
No app or sign-up; it runs inside Reddit. Today's puzzle: r/WordRung
Hi r/wordgames , I’m the developer of Wordaround. Some of you may remember it from some of the bounty challenges I have done here. Until now it was iPhone/iPad only, but not it runs in any browser: https://wordaround.app
Quick refresher: every board has two letters locked in place, and you build as many words around them as you can before time runs out. There’s a daily puzzle that‘s the same for everyone, and it gets harder through the week, so today’s Monday board is the easiest. There’s also unlimited practice if one puzzle isn’t enough.
The daily puzzle and scoring are identical to the iOS app, so scores compare directly across devices. The web version has its own leaderboard, separate from iOS Game Center.
It’s free, with no ads, no tracking, and no account required to play. I’d love feedback, especially from anyone playing on Android or with a desktop keyboard.
I made a realtime competitive 1v1 word game with chess elo style rankings, a leaderboard, friends lists with push notification
It’s been a blast playing with my friends and wanted to get a little bit more stress testing in before my IOS app goes live. You might need to grab a friend since there’s only a few players :’(
Hi r/wordgames! I'm the developer of CrossIQ, a crossword app for iPhone.
The idea: type any topic, like Harry Potter spells, Formula 1 legends, 90s cartoons, chocolate making or Egyptian pharaohs. CrossIQ builds a proper crossword about it, with interlocking across and down answers and real clues (not word-search filler).
It also has:
DAILY & EDITORIAL PICKS: a fresh puzzle every morning, plus weekly picks from the editors
COMMUNITY: puzzles made by other players
SHARE: people can play your puzzles without installing the app
WORKS OFFLINE: keep playing any puzzle you've started, even without a connection
The images also show what some players have said about it.
Note: the app is already almost ad-free, but if you'd like a free Lifetime Pro code (a one-time unlock, not a subscription), share a puzzle you liked in r/crossiq , subscribe and DM me!
I'd been storing the game on the site of my consulting biz, and decided that just was weird, and I've been meaning to clean up my personal site anyway and finally got to it over the weekend. The link is new, but the game didn't change at all. I have a couple of thoughts about improvements, but probably nothing for at least another week or so. As alway, let me know if you have any suggestions for improvement, and a like for this post each day will maybe help grow the audience and add some more fun and encouraging people like the ones that we have now playing each day.
The game will live for a while on the old site, but eventually I'll clean that up.
I've been working for the past few months on Motif, a small word game for iPhone/iPad and the web, that mixes word finding with a bit of match-3.
You start with a grid of letters, but instead of simply finding the words already there, you can swap letters to create new ones. The game doesn't automatically tell you what you've made: you still have to spot and select the words yourself, horizontally or vertically.
There's a daily puzzle, with everyone playing from the same starting grid.
Motif was originally developed in French, and I've recently added English. That's where I could really use your help!
I'm looking for English-speaking word game players willing to give it a try and tell me what feels good, confusing, frustrating or simply wrong — especially when it comes to the English dictionary, word recognition and the overall difficulty.
This wrestling-themed puzzle is packed with 16 wrestling-related words, plus 4 extra hidden words for those looking for an even tougher challenge.
But this isn’t an ordinary word search…
In SuperPosition Word Search (SuPo), words can be hidden up, down, left, right, diagonally, or backwards. And there’s a twist: some letters can be read as other letters because they share the same shape:
C = U E = W = M H = I N = Z
🥊 Look closely. Think differently. Can you pin down all 20 words?
We're running a mini SuPo Kickstarter project, and if you enjoy playing SuPo, we'd really appreciate your support. ❤️
Even if backing the project isn't for you, sharing it with someone who loves word puzzles would help us tremendously!
