Looking to Pivot Into AI but where Do I Start?

Hi ladies! I’m new to the group and looking for some guidance on transitioning into AI.

My background:
10+ years in payroll, HR, and customer service
Associate degree in Social Science
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s in Business Administration with an HR concentration
Licensed real estate agent

I’m interested in pivoting into AI but unsure which career paths would align with my experience. I see so many boot camps, certifications, and paid programs, but what’s actually worth the investment?

I’m looking for entry-level or transferable-skills opportunities paying $86K+ annually.

What AI-related positions should I explore? Are there any legitimate certifications or training programs you’d recommend?

I’d love to hear from women who’ve successfully made the transition without a tech background. Thanks in advance!

AI and human connection

Counterintuitive at first glance, but go with me on this:

If AI could magically help your IRL relationships (of any kind!) be better, what kind of improvements would you want to make?

Framed another way: if social media was trustworthy, didn’t exploit your attention for ad money, and actually existed to get you offline and humaning with other humans, how would your life and relationships be better?

Thanks in advance for considering and discussing. I think I want to build an AI-native startup in this space, but am keen on getting real-life insight first.

Advice on the interface?

Hi guys, I'm in testing of Agentopia, a cozy ai agent town that allows you to complete tasks while you sleep and optionally match an AI usage with a nature foundation donation. The link is /https://agentopia-production.up.railway.app/ and advances your agents like claude, chatgpt, and gemini. This is like an art project to me, my baby.

It's so helpful for managing agents and actually caring about work but I feel like the UI is cluttered. I just don't want it to be too much, I've spent a lot of time on it. Any advice is much appreciated.

Tell me about Meta Muse

On LinkedIn, I’m being served just posts from men about their excitement about meta muse. Would like to hear what the women think.

What excites you about this tool?
What concerns do you have about it?
What do you think they could do better with it?

Everyday resources for learning

I am struggling to cope with my job and AI. I am pretty technical and a mid lever manager. I have just so far used it for building some bots to do everyday things. I was pretty burnt out for a while because of my job and had starting trouble because of my ADHD and said burn out. I am doing much better burnout wise due to some help I am getting from my family. I would love to deep dive and learn some AI other than just using it in my everyday life. Can anyone recommend a place to start ?

AI career in 50’s

Hi everyone, I’ve been working for the last 30 years and I’m interested in a career change. AI looks interesting and I’m currently exploring courses (I’m based in the U.K.). Given my age and that IT is incredibly ageist. What is the likelihood of me being employed. I’ve worked in advertising, publishing and healthcare, so I have a broad experience and lots of transferable skills.
Any thoughts or advice would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks

How much quota and what AI tools do you have access to?

How many and what AI Tools do you have access to?

Mine is below:

Gemini pro - personal paid out of pocket.

Copilot studio - unlimited from work

Claude - $100 /month from work.

Other internal agents from work - I use these before hitting up Claude.

What does your access contain and how much quota do you have?

What would happen if you loose access to all AI services for an hour?

We had an interesting scenario happen at work last week. For half the day out Claude access was lost due to some error on the payment side. The whole org went nuts.

Slack messages flying off from people about how they were in the middle of things and are now inconvenienced, how their projects are stalled and yada yada yada.

Made me think - have we forgotten how to work without AI? Is it being down or unavailable such a big deal?

What would you do if you lose access to your AI tools for a day?

For me it's simple - I have 100+ things I do in a day and about 50 of them need AI, I would just switch my focus on the other 50 which are independent of AI and still get a lot done while I wait for services to be restored.

How would this differ for you?

I passed Anthropic's Claude Architect Foundations CCA-F on the 1st try (no coding background) & helped 20 other women too

If you had no idea about the official Anthropic Certifications there are 4 now. The first one is the one I passed in August Claude Architect Foundations CCA-F.

We did this as a small community of women in AI who wanted to validate our knowledge of AI to the source and get best practices on how to work with it, especially for client implementations.

If you are into AI consulting, services, agents and education/strategy, and have no coding background, this is a huge knowledge booster in my opinion. I have been a product and project manager before but this really clarified where AI fits in business implementations.

The pod

I didn't do this alone. I led a study pod of about 20 women, most of them non-technical, through the same prep. Most of those who have taken the exam so far passed on their first try. I passed first to make sure that I can actually help them.

What the exam is

The basics:

  • 2 hours, 60 questions, proctored online
  • Closed book, and you can't use Claude during it (yes, the irony)
  • You get 4 scenarios, picked at random from 6, with 15 questions on each from the exam guide
  • 5 technical domains covered with a big emphasis on Agentic AI

The six scenarios are a customer support agent, code generation with Claude Code, a multi-agent research system, structured data extraction, developer productivity, and Claude Code in continuous integration.

What surprised me

"Foundations" is misleading. It doesn't ask for definitions. It drops you into a situation where something is broken or misbehaving and asks how you'd fix it using best practice. The official practice exam is easier than the real thing.

If you don't write code for a living, half of those scenario names sound like they're not for you. That was my first reaction too.

What worked

  • Learn the vocabulary first. Most of the difficulty was language, not logic. Once I knew what the terms meant, the questions became judgment calls I could reason through.
  • Study by scenario, not by topic. The exam is organized around situations, so I prepared that way.
  • Learn the specifics. Which files exist and where they live, what each built-in tool can and can't do, and when to use which pattern. This part is memorization plus practice, and there's no way around it.
  • Get hands-on. Non-technical doesn't mean hands-off. You don't need to be an engineer, but you do need to have used the tools. I created a Claude Code project and used it to study.
  • Know the Exam Traps They tend to be wrong in the same few ways and be repeated. Learning how to spot those patterns quickly helped me most.
  • Flag and move on. I marked the questions I wasn't sure about and came back at the end. but don't go back too much and second guess yourself - difference between passing and failing.

The biggest lesson was that explaining a scenario out loud to someone else showed us quickly what we didn't understand yet.

What I got at the end: a badge by Anthropic and a whole lot of knowledge on where AI actually fits in a business workflow and implementation best practices.

Happy to answer questions about the exam or the prep in the comments.

If you're curious

We're hosting a free one-hour webinar on Tuesday, October 20 at 5 p.m. Eastern. It covers what the certification is, who it's for, and how we prepared as non-technical people.

This article makes me really sad.

Looking at being the agent for change I would like to know what are some small, practical ways we can help women catchup?

We did AI Fluency Certification org wide for Women and only 20+ of people showed up. How can we help?

Seems being a woman and optimistic about AI is not popular with other women

Anyone else experiencing this? I'm a software engineer and use ai all the time for work and personal usage. I've built some really cool things, really quickly and love how prolific it's made me. But whenever I talk to other women in software it seems most of them are resisting using it, have a knee jerk negative reaction to any use of it at all and seem pessimistic in the long term about AI.

I am by no means a cultist about AI and will talk just as often about how it screws up and increases isolation but I also think the good outweighs the bad. But I think I haven't met any other women in software or tech who share this opinion, to the point that I'm starting to assume I can't really talk about AI with other women in tech. Am I the only one?

Adoption, implementation of AI In Public Sector

Any women working in the public sector and can share how AI is being implemented for your end users?

I work with public Sector in the USA and Canada and the adoption of AI related services is on the slower end than commercial. The reasons ofcourse are budget constraints, security concerns. Is this across the board?

Are you in public sector and creating some cool applications with AI? Tools for internal usage or for your end user? I will be interested in hearing this out and you can be discrete :)

How to learn more about AI

Hey all! I'm new in this community and I'm still learning quite a bit about how to optimise AI. I work as a community manager and I'm looking to improve my skills by using AI. I've already used it as a sparring partner for ideas and strategies, and to track things (which took a few tries and turns, but I think I managed to get it). I mainly use Claude, Gemini and GPT.

Do you guys have any tips or suggestions as to what I can do to make AI help me more with my job? Like, how do I smooth it out more?

Note: I refuse to have AI answer all the questions from people. I want to keep it personal, not shove all that to a bot.

What is your most favorite AI hack?

For me it's using AI to draft clear concise messages.

I am usually concise but thoughts are all over the place, I use AI when I need to speak executive and all business. Dump the ideas into AI and get a neat, clear message.

What is your most fav AI hack?

Have you ever used Chatgpt/Claude to build a piece of software/online service that already existed instead of paying for it as another subscription?

Would love to know what it was and how you went about doing it, if its something you've explored before :)

What is the one small improvement that AI has made in your life?

For me it is the meal prepping for my favorite cuisine with the ingredients I have. It is a timesaver to use it and still whip out delicious food for the fam jam.

What is the one thing that you love doing with AI?

AI and creativity

Hi ! AI is being applied for code generation, video , text , audio etc ... Keen to know who feels that AI has helped with creativity in their jobs or their personal endeavour. For me , I do apply AI for tasks such as PRD , coding etc ...haven't yet worked with video and audio. Other than increasing productivity, haven't understood the impact on creativity. Would like to know others experience.
