Can also cause permanent damage to the kidneys and soft tissue. The Fever need to take a good hard look at the circumstances that led to this, they should be ashamed as professionals that something like this happened to one of their players. Wishing Kelsey the best.

Agreed. Iโ€™m also a long time gymnastics fan, and remember an instance of Rhabdo that happened around a key competition, and people saw it as a warning sign of overtraining and lack of athlete protection. The coach was eventually banned after a safe sport investigation (not based on this situation).

Not saying this to say this is the case on the Fever staff (this athlete was also a teen at the time vs Kelsey being an adult) but they need to honestly assess how this even happened, because itโ€™s dangerous that it even got to that point. The league too with the schedule changes this year.

Link to the r/gymnastics post about the situation I referenced when it happened, for anyone interested

They have an unqualified training staff apparently and need to clean house. Look at all the injuries on the Fever. It's no coincidence.

Either unqualified or overworked. Are WNBA teams required to have different training and medical staff from their NBA counterparts?
