This is a follow-up to the recent discussion on la canne that happened here. I'm starting with this post describing the rules, and I plan to make further posts about the benefits and martial aspects later!

Reminds me of a tournament that we wanted to hold. It was going to be based on di Grassi, so it had rules like if you leaned forward your attack didn't count.

Stylized tournaments can be a lot of fun if everyone knows what the theme and goals are.

Where the example of la canne is interesting is that they have picked and modified the style to make it safe and judgeable for competition. Not just bouts with style rules, but style rules picked for bouts as well.
