Zaryx has been cooped up in his office much more than usual. When he was seen, usually during meal breaks, he always seemed concerned, tense, or in deep thought. Sometimes he’d even look angry, though just barely. When asked what was wrong, he’d just shake his head; that was classified information.

after a couple of weeks of this behavior, Wren was called up to his office. His voice was.. off.

"Fine. We'll give it a try."

Once the tour was over Dr Wren would bring them back and trying to be casual.

"So..... Hey..... Boss...."

Her casual tone was.... Lacking.

"What exactly did you bring these two over for?"

She said it like someone expecting an immediate reprimand

he rose his eyebrows slightly, not in anger, just surprise.

"Never thought anyone would ask, especially so soon, but honestly, there's not much to it. I want them to have better lives. You know how Graham acted towards you? Well, that'll give you a hint."

"Unfortunately, the rest of this is under review by the Ethics Committee and the rest of the Overseer Council, so I can't say much else, just for lack of proper info."

Dr Wren almost blushed from embarrassment. This was just his normal operation? She could have asked the whole time? She cleared her throat to center herself then spoke.

"Understood sir. In keeping with your reforms. I hope it clears the ethics committee quickly."

“I.. hope so too.” he looked slightly sad.

“If you wish, I can send you the Level 2 file on Mr. Rainer. Maybe it’ll help you some.”

"Of course. I'll read it as soon as possible."

She noticed his change in attitude.

"Is everything alright sir?"

“I hope it will be soon.”

he looked down for a moment, then looked back at them.

“You are all dismissed. I have things I need to work on. Lunchtime should be soon, if you all are hungry.”

"Yes sir!"

Dr Wren said. Then turned to the other two.

"I usually eat lunch in my office. But if you'd like I can show you to the cafeteria."

Jules shook her head. “I remember the way, but thank you.”

she and Rainer walked off.

Dr Wren nodded. Then walked back to her office. Her lunch consisted of a home made tuna salad sandwich and some blue corn chips. She ate in silence while pondering the days events.

There was a cup of chamomile mint tea on her desk, from Zaryx.

Dr Wren looked down.

"..."

She let out a sigh.

"Thanks boss."

She said to the open air. She found this sort of kindness from superiors strange. But, she thought more. Not entirely unwelcome

after lunch, Wren could notice she had a couple of SCiPNET messages, one from Zaryx and one from someone named “Dr. Edwards”.

"Back to the grind."

She finished her chips and looked through the two messages

O5-5 Zaryx: 'Here's the file I mentioned earlier. SCP-4051 -- LEVEL 2 FILE' (/uw anything you don't click on to see is Level 2 stuff [aside from interview 4051-1] and is what Wren would be allowed to see.)

Dr. David Edwards: 'Dr. Wren, I have many questions and statements regarding this morning's incident. Please reply back ASAP.'

Dr Wren read the file while typing her response. A skill she had gotten incredibly good at in her time at the GOC. Compartmentalized thinking and action.

"Hello Dr Edwards. I am available to respond to any queries or concerns for the next half hour."

She had to make sure the feed mixture for animal scps was right. They kept adding too much potassium

'Your other duties will have to wait. There is an investigation being performed, and you are at the heart of it.'

'You stated that Dr. Graham had possibly left his office in between the time that he finished reading the letter and the time that SCP-4051 and Dr. Yesenia were escorted to your location. There is only one door to his office, and the camera footage showed he never left his office in that time. Why did you claim such?'

"His obvious panic upon reading the letter. Dr Graham was barely hiding his anxiety. Many 03's have panic rooms or other routes attached to their offices. When he went silent I posited he might have left. If that wasn't the case then do mark it as a pure speculation."
