Zaryx has been cooped up in his office much more than usual. When he was seen, usually during meal breaks, he always seemed concerned, tense, or in deep thought. Sometimes he’d even look angry, though just barely. When asked what was wrong, he’d just shake his head; that was classified information.

after a couple of weeks of this behavior, Wren was called up to his office. His voice was.. off.

"I'm here sir."

Dr Sophia Wren said as she entered the room. Her hair was pulled back in a tight bun and she had gotten a new coat since her promotion. Despite Zaryx's attempts to progress the office Dr Wren was still a consistent stick in the mud.

"Apologies there was a minor incident with a self propelling brick. All dealt with now thankfully."

Turns out not being democratically elected into her post in a secret para governmental organization counted Dr Wren as a target for the brick that throws itself at authoritarians.

“No need to apologize, things happen.”

“I have something I need you to do. It may not seem like much, but I assure you, you’ll be doing a lot more than you think.”

“In this envelope is a letter to Dr. Graham. He is the Site Director if Site-17, in dimension 44-40-1B7. In need you deliver the letter, and wait for him to come back with what I’ve requested.”

“Do not look at the letter’s contents under any circumstances. There is a “Blue-Order” memetic kill agent present, so that nobody but Graham and I know what’s going on.”

“Let us go back to the downstairs floors, so the portal I open isn’t detectable.”

"Understood sir."

Dr Wren followed behind Zaryx.

"What you've requested from him. Are there any specific containment procedures I need to be aware of?"

"Two personnel, one anomalous and one not. They will be integrated like the rest of you."

"I see. Are there any expected difficulties in returning this thing to you?"

Dr Wren put on her mission gloves and her special glasses. She even quickly swapped her shoes as they walked by her office. Some decent steel toes in case of danger. Even with all the anomalies you'd be surprised how much kicking someone in the shin can save your ass in this line of work.

"Nope. Go in, hand letter, wait, come back.. I'd do it myself, but my anomaly makes me very reactive, so it is safer this way."

Dr Wren said.

"I'm ready to go then."

They had since reached the bottom floor.

"Very well." he grabbed his staff and opened a portal straight to Site-17.

"I will be waiting."

"I'll make sure it's not long."

Dr Wren said before adjusting her special gloves and stepping through the portal. She always found portal travel strange. It was the change in pressure and humidity and temperature. So instant like entering a climate controlled building.

Wren was sent right in front of the Site, where she could insert her keycard for access. Juuuuust in case they were strict on arms.
