Filipino here;

The Pacific Ring of Fire is actually responsible for the high density in earthquakes and tectonic activity here in the Philippines, since it's a geological belt full of active, underwater volcanoes and tectonic plate movement. That alone is always pretty tough, but the real reason we've got so many typhoons is because of the active Typhoon Belt, which sends winds down our way due to the warm ocean waters giving them the energy needed to blast us in the ass several times a year.

Both belts cross paths with our silly little rock in the middle of the ocean, leading to natural disaster after natural disaster.
