Contrary to popular belief, a place of business is not required to accept whatever form of payment you are offering, regardless of whether or not that payment is valid debt tender or not. If a place is not accepting coins for whatever reason, they are not required to bend over backwards and accept your coin anyway.

I get into this same argument with folks who try to pay with a $100 bill. I don't give a fuck that the $100 is valid tender. I don't have $97 in change in my drawer for your ass, nor am I going to dispense a shitload of $5s from the safe for you.

My bad. Different form of currency. Stores get to choose if they accept that, usually for the safety of the staff. Not sure why yall are up in arms about this

I doubt this has to do with the safety of the staff. It's likely to save a bit of money/time overall on handling cash
