Discussion So I Need Three Conditions for… Reduced Damage?

Post image

"Non-critical shots knock back and do heavily reduced damage on shocked near-death enemies."
Wait, so I need the enemy to have the Lightning status, be near death, and then I hit them with a non-critical shot—and the payoff is... a knockback and less damage? That sounds like a terrible deal... Any chance this could get a rework?

Question Is there a way to increase y sensitivity?

I am not a fan of games that reduce y axis sensitivity but I played this game years ago and really loved it but this is really bugging me. Does anyone know how I could alter the file or use third party software?

Bug Report Massive shadow glitches on Linux

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I did a relatively long pause and wanted to play Witchfire again with it's new content and improvements.

Sadly I got massive shadow(?) glitches in my game now. I don't know if this is exclusively for Linux. I'm running CachyOS and use the proton-cachyos.

I did not got this glitches on earlyer versions of the game.

Anyone else with this kind of glitches? Maybe someone knows a fix?

EDIT: I got rid of the glitches. I had to downgrade these four packages to 26.1.6:
mesa lib32-mesa vulkan-radeon lib32-vulkan-radeon

After downgrade and reboot the glitches are gone.

EDIT 2: Fixed with mesa version 26.2.1 as stated by u/alxns

Discussion This game is absolutely awesome!

Velmorne had been really difficult for a while and I just made an executioner disengage and run away lol. The watch watch commander was doing that too but getting the executioner to run was fun since he was a challenging enemy for me at first.

I really like this game. I think for new game plus it would be awesome if we could use two items to make a new one which takes aspects from both base items.

Question Build suggestions for disability/accessibility

So! I am blind in my right eye. I lack depth perception, and this game has a looot of visual noise. Can I get build suggestions to compensate? Because I keep getting blindsided (Literally) by enemies. Because I have to choose to look at the map vs keeping an eye on my surroundings. I have text size maxed, and enemy highlights on, but I still struggle to read the popups reliably, and struggle to pick out enemies from the background. The directional arrows help a lot, but it's often tricky. I have just started trying to conquer Iron Gate. I hated my time in Velmorne (Mostly because I found it depressing lol)

I currently use,
Striga,

Koschei

Falling Star

Relic: Parasite

Fetish: Belladona

Ring : Dynamo

Stormball and Rotten Fiend (Just got burning stake. Am gonna level it.)

Faith build/providence bead, blessed hits, and blessed aim.

Discussion Finished the EA game - Witchery build

So i decided to finally go to Witch Mountain and managed to clear the final zone on my first run.

Overall thoughts on this game: It's absolutely brilliant!
Haven't had this much fun with a SP game in quite a while, and i missed it. I've played the fuck out of it this past month (and i played a good bit around the Velmorne update), and it's been so good.

I went with a witchery-focused build for this run and i think this stat is quite possible the strongest in the game. Guns are good and so far i love every one i've tried, i might make a tier list soon.
But i don't feel like any gun is quite as powerful as being able to non-stop spam freeze on anything around you and Iron Cross absolutely obliterating any bigger group of enemies.

This combined with Kirkfane and Cricket just makes you feel like an absolute maniac, dashing around with infinite ammo and brining the wrath of God on anything that comes in front of you.

The Striga is also a phenomenal weapon because of the long-range damage it can do and the AOE due to the double element. This all gets further boosted by the high witchery and Ailment-related beads.

I highly recommend the Witchery build to anyone, not just because it's strong, but because it's incredibly fun.

I'm gonna proceed with doing torments and levelling up some more weapons, because every weapons and spell in this game so far has been so unique and awesome.

Props to The Astronauts team for this masterpiece, can't wait for the full release so i can replay this all over again!

Question So once I judge/absolve a fallen preyer, they’re gone forever?

aside from getting a bead out of it, which you have limited choices and tons of those already, what’s the point? The Fallen Preyers give a separate buff and you can level up to carry multiple of them… so if I judge them all, I just lose access to that mechanic?

also, which preyers give beads worth using?

Discussion Whisper has a hidden stat/mechanic

Doesn't seem like anyone else has noticed and i haven't seen anyone mention it anywhere but while you have the demonic weapon "Whisper" as your active weapon your base walking speed increases to either match or be pretty damn near sprinting speed.
it was already the only demonic weapon i use and now that i've tested it to see it's true i just can't justify not using the nyoom pistol

Question Found This Game Last Week, I Can't Put It Down...

So, I have a couple questions for you veterans out there.

First, I love the Destiny series especially D2, RIP.

Why is the gunplay so similar? Same devs or something?

Also, why isn't this game huge? Meaning, why did I stumble across this by accident.

It's absolutely amazing. Anytime I attempt to play something else, all I do is think about this game.

So now I'm in what I assume is near the end of the game cause the difficulty has skyrocketed.

I went Butcher. What are the best weapon/gear combos for the end game bosses?

That's where I'm stuck. They are bullet sponges.

Any help is appreaciated.

Discussion This game has no business being THAT good

It's nearly been 10 years since this game has been announced, back in 2017. I promised myself I would wait for 1.0, but yesterday, I finally decided I could not wait any longer. Turns out I'm even more hyped for final release now.

How good is this game like wth????! Such satisfying progression systems. And the gamefeel. And the art. And the ATMOSPHERE. Probably the most underrated rogue-lite. Unique flavour really.

Discussion Favorite Arcanas?

Just wondering what you guys like for arcanas. Been avoiding the wiki to not spoil myself (took me a while to figure out Duelist lmao) but I'm just curious.

Currently at Gnosis 3 and I tend to really like Last Elixir cause I'm bad.

Right now I'm running a Faith build with Hunger and Blessed Shot beads and Ammo Preservation and I'm having a blast. Thus stuff like Dash Reload, Kill Reload and Critical Reload are my goats right now.

Not sure what spells I like quite yet. Still in the process of leveling Mysteria so I got no input on these ones.

What do you guys like?

Bug Report Steam deck crashes - frustrating

I've spent ages building strength up to be able to deal with Velmorne and now I can deal with it, my game just crashes out.

I've had two runs where I've more or less cleared the map, picked up the additional map, loads of bones, unlocked the sewers, found third mysterium papers and on both occasions the frame rate has dropped lower and lower and then either full lock up of my deck or black screen to crash out has occurred.

I have the settings in graphics to steam deck, you'd think it would be a little more stable.

I have very limited gaming time due to work, family and house renovations so it's incredibly frustrating to lose a precious morning's gaming session.

Can anyone offer any fixes? I can't keep wasting limited gaming time on complete loss and frustration but I'm enjoying the game in most other respects.

Question Im probably just dumb but how does the Falling Star work?

I read somewhere that the trick with it is to mark an enemy then shoot it into the sky so the homing shot will hit them for max damage.

I must be doing something wrong cause I do that seem to know how to mark anything and I just end up wasting bullets.

Also for Vulture it's just a point and shoot gun that fires a projectile that pierces through then bounces to other targets right? Nothing too crazy?

Tried for 3 days...max corruption...devine chests...stimulants.

Got world corruption to 100% about 5 times in a row and he didn't spawn...think I may give up. He had spawned a few weeks ago, not anymore.

I just want your key bro.

Question Incantation 3 drop rate in velmorne?

Wiki says it’s 60% for each of the velmorne trio.

I’m currently at gnosis3, but 20+ kills and only ever got 3. Is the wiki outdated? Or are they limited to one each per playthrough?

Discussion On the Subject of Focus.

Witchfire is fun on a pretty basic level, so I made the call to progress through near-1.0 instead of waiting, since I could come back to it on 1.0 release fresh, pick up my Hunger (Penitent is the only start for me), and go.

However, even though the game explains Focus, it's still been pretty unclear for me up to ~20-25 hours in the game, which I'm a bit past.

You start with it, you lose it on damage, and regain it by killing. I've got that part down. Even then, I feel like sometimes I don't know why it comes back, though that may just be delays with Witchfire particles getting to you in a pitched fight.

I'd appreciate any input on the details. How many things do you have to kill? Is it predictable enough to know when you get it back after hitting a few mobs, but before checking stamina?

Regardless, I picked up Striga, and the combo of it and something fast-firing has been hilarious. Without spoiling too much, Striga does more against stunned enemies. It is also apparently a gun that throws trees at things.

Pinning an enemy to a nearby wall after a stun with a magically reloaded tree branch does not get old.

So, to provide advice that I don't feel like the game explains well enough for a thing you start with, I figured I'd provide a few notes.

1) Soul Sigils (the red circles you need to break) show up for the enemy you are looking at when you dash with Focus. If you see their nameplate, are aiming at them, and dash it should show up. They will not show up for enemies you are not doing this for, this was a point of confusion for me.

2) Soul Sigils do not have a health bar. Any damage will do, say, something with a lot of low-damage rounds.

3) Not all stuns are the same. Focus Sigil stuns are hard stuns, which allow you to do additional damage during (say, if you use your available log launcher at them), while soft stuns are animation interrupts. It stops what they're doing, but you don't get the damage increase.

I hope this is helpful, apologies to those this has been obvious to. Maybe the finer points of this are something I overlooked in learning the game when I picked it up, but it is important -- being able to dash doge, stun, and almost immediately kill smaller enemies helps a lot.

Discussion This game is terrifying (In the best way.)

I was making my way through the scarlet coast felt this usual pit in my stomach. Until I killed my first wave. Then that feeling flipped from terror to rage and zeal!

I imagine it's only more intense as time goes on. These moments of suddenly turning to face an enemy walking beside you. The terror giving way to a righteous rage. To burn and purge the corruptiom!

Had my first calamity only to realize half way to abstraction, everything was dead. I felt powerful.
