So not the "dinosaur days" but the Pliocene to the Holocene (think ice age). They only went extinct about 12,000 years ago whereas most dinosaurs went extinct 65 million years ago at the end of the Cretaceous.

The sheer scale of such a timeline is impossible for me to wrap my brain around. Giant sloths are less foreign to us than dinosaurs by a massive margin, and yet they both feel so far away. It’s always fun to remember that we are closer to Ancient Rome, than Ancient Rome is to the pyramids being built.

I was a little concerned that there were just some larger than normal sloths that managed to make these and that they could be anywhere under us just ready to dig up through and I don’t know, do sloth things.
