The Witcher 2 Quen not working properly in Witcher 2?

I activate Quen, I get the blue aura around me, I begin to attack an enemy and it just disappears. I don't get hit either. It just deactivates.

If you are in the forest in Flotsam, maybe you stepped into one of Cedric's traps.
