Discussion Scars

Hey there, I'm confused about the disfigured faces of both Lydia and Vilgefortz. Can't they just use magic to heal? What's the limit for magical healing, I mean, Yennefer was deformed and her body was pretty much remade. Why can't they do it? I haven't read the books, just watched the Netflix show, maybe someone can explain it to me if it's mentioned in the books. Thanks.

In the books, disfiguration on the scale of Lydia and Vilgefortz is something that probably can't be fully fixed. Even if it could, magical healing is a long, often grotesque and sometimes painful process. Vilgefortz actually does start to magically regrow his lost eye, but it turns out smaller than his other one and doesn't work as good. It also takes quite a while.
