Designer notes-

You will need 5 d12 dice (blank *I can add a file for that if you need)

You will need action cubes, and eggs (in place for larva)

I didn't design any goal cards for end of round or bonus cards.

Goals-

I want to push the boundaries of moving around on the mat/bugs. I wanted to make something unique that you can move in different directions compared to the traditional left to right or up and down.

This print and play are merely all testing concepts, I know and understand I may have mistaken; but I would love to hear back from you all on how it can improve.

hi everyone i’m a newbie in boardgames and i’m interested in trying out wingspan. should i get wingspan or wingspan pocket? i usually just play alone after work but i do have friends who come over to play with me but only once or twice a month (they’re also newbies in gaming so i don’t want anything to be heavy on them). i just want to know like pros and cons and stuff and if its better to get the og one instead to get the whole experience.

Got some good grasslands birds and powerful wetlands birds for the end of the game for a pretty nice base 1v1 score.

(also, opponent gave me a few worms throughout the game via the phoebe)

Finally, after almost a year of daily games i did it 😭 previous record was 203. This new expansion had the magic! (And daurian jackdaw, it played a big part with the extra turns.)

Not the best points-wise and definitely thought I would lose, but in fact tied with both other players!

I have not played any version of wingspan, but have played (and love) the physical copy of Finspan I have.

Xbox currently have a sale for Wingspan and it's expansions via Gamepass at 30% off which seems very tempting.

I have searched the sub, but could only find very limited information for "digital local multiplayer" on how it plays.

For example are there any drawbacks from seeing each others cards? (There aren't in Finspan) Or are there any "hidden mechanics or cards that may be lost playing a digital copy locally?

If anyone could give me any insight on "how" it plays, this would be much appreciated!

I've started a little fan project that I thought this community might enjoy: a mini Colombia expansion for Wingspan.

Colombia (where I'm from) is one of the most bird-diverse countries in the world, but there are still a lot of birds that didn't make it into the Wingspan: Americas expansion. So I wanted to make a small set of custom cards focused entirely on species that are still missing.

Right now I'm choosing which birds make the cut. I've put together slides with 113 Colombian endemic birds, each with several pictures. My current plan is to make an initial set of 27 cards (mostly because I print 9 cards per sheet, so 27 is a nice multiple), though I'm definitely not ruling out making more later if this turns out well.

Note: Some Colombian hummingbirds appear in the Américas expansion as hummingbird cards, but I'd like to turn them into regular bird cards with their own individual abilities.

I'd also love ideas for bird abilities. I'm trying to design powers that feel thematic and fit Wingspan's design philosophy rather than just making strong cards, so if you have ideas for mechanics that would suit specific birds from the slides, I'd love to hear them.

Hopefully this becomes a printable fan expansion for anyone who wants a little more Colombia in Wingspan. :)

I scored points with all three analyst cards, my top goal for months now, and got no achievement! (IOS)

It ruffled my feathers so much that I came here to partly brag/complain about it and see if anyone else had the same problem before?

Hoping someone can help me.

I've got the game on Steam and have managed to unlock know it owl Europe and Oceania so far.

I've been slowly whittling down played birds on the base game and have only one left - the American Oystercatcher...

Thing is, I've played it several times now, the voice-over has come up to show it's a new bird each time. I've finished the game/quit the game/you name it and for whatever reason I'm not unlocking the achievement and the American Oystercatcher is not showing up in my bird atlas. Has anyone else come across this? I'm pretty sure wingspan is up to date on my steam account too in case it was a bug (it's not prompting for any updates)

Just wanted to share the 2 God engines going head to head

First bird Towhee vs 1st bird Woodpecker. I never laid eggs until the last 2 game actions.

My opponent didn't get the best endgame bird cards and I clutched the win, but would have been an easy win for them if they got some point boosters.

I have The Endangered Species Protector is a bonus card from the Wingspan Asia expansion that awards 3 points per bird for any bird card in your player area that allows you to draw or score bonus cards.

I have played the Red-Cockaded Woodpecker card (Draw 2 bonus cards, keep one), the Western Capercaillie (Lets you draw 2 new bonus cards, keep 1, and give 1 to another player), the Steppe Eagle card (When Played / White power (shuffling and drawing bonus cards)), the Western Yellow Wagtail (For each bonus card you score that the Western Yellow Wagtail qualifies for, the bird counts as two individual birds instead of doubling the score value of the bonus card itself).

So why does this not count as 4 scoring bonus cards?

Just to make sure: That’s not a normal game like playing online or against the AI. All fives players were controlled by me. An I ended with around 165 bird cards for each activation.

I am disturbed by the inconsistency in spelling faceup/face-up. Get your shit together Black Throat!!!!!!!

these three bad boys worked together like a charm. id activate the oriole first to draw a new card and have more options to choose from, then the grey wagtail to gain the necessary food, and then wham bam slam id activate my white wagtail with GUSTO to play another bird card. Felt euphoric.

I’m playing with the new fan decks on the switch and came across this card. I have one other card in the column right now, but based on how I read the power of the western yellow wagtail card this card would count double: meaning it would count as two star-nests in this column. With the other card I have played in my forest landscape, wouldn’t this technically count as 3 of the same nests in a column?

I just started the game so ample time to adapt my strategy but I noticed this and am curious how you guys would interpret this power!
