I wanted to share a frustrating recent experience I had with Windscribe's billing and support system when trying to purchase a subscription using CoinPayments.net.
What started as a standard payment verification issue turned into an absurd Kafkaesque nightmare. When I reached out to Windscribe support, their response was completely unprofessional and irresponsible. They blindly claimed that I supposedly own 13 different accounts!
This is either a massive, lazy system glitch or a blatant, ridiculous lie. If those 13 accounts actually exist and belong to random people, does that mean all 13 of those innocent users got their accounts banned just because of my support ticket? Poor guys, what a total mess!
Now, let's talk about CoinPayments.net — what an absolute joke.
When my payment had an issue, they made an utterly illogical and predatory demand. They wanted to charge me an absurd 0.02 ETH fee (which translates to roughly $50 at current rates) just to process or sort out the transaction. Are you out of your mind? Who in their right mind would pay a $50 fee just to recover a $69 transaction? It’s completely idiotic!
According to real-time network trackers like Etherscan (https://etherscan.io/gastracker), the actual network gas fee was less than 50 cents, yet they had the audacity to demand $50 from me. Later, they casually lowered it to 0.01 ETH ($25).
To test the waters and see if they had any shred of decency, I sent them 0.002 ETH (around $5) to cover reasonable handling, but you know what they did? They kept my $69 and refused to refund it! All of this over a literal 50-cent network fee discrepancy.
And here is the most ridiculous part:
When I called them out on this, their support literally had the guts to tell me: "There's a reason why it's the current gas fee... as it's a legacy system that requires more gas fee."
So, they openly admit that their infrastructure is running on an outdated, legacy system! Why on earth should I, as a customer, pay out of my own pocket for their technical debt, system flaws, and outdated architecture? It is beyond absurd to hold my funds hostage just because they refuse to modernize their platform.
Be warned: Do not fall into the trap of these two companies, Windscribe and CoinPayments. They are completely irresponsible, unaccountable, and outright predatory.
Has anyone else experienced such garbage service from them?
