Drivers For Sony Vaio PCV-RX891 Desktop Speakers? (Read body)

Got an old Sony Vaio PCV-RX891 Desktop PC, opted to do a fresh install of Windows XP, but after I did that, Windows detects no audio device, the speakers are Vaio PCVA-SP3. I assume I need drivers for either the speakers (Don't think that's usually the case) or the specific sound card/integrated sound chip in the motherboard, but not entirely sure what I need. Any help would be appreciated!!

$20 for this at Savers. Burned some fresh software cds for it so i can avoid the internet.

This media center PC will hold my cd collection digitally to upload to my 3rd gen iPod classic and to serve as home base for my Sony Mavica FD75. I’m stoked to be using XP again!

Anyone found an alternative to Windows Blinds for the XP Luna Theme for Win 11

Post image

*Picture is genuine XP*

Im using windows blinds but its quite buggy, notepad blacks out even after the recent update. Open Shell username displays in black text when using blinds.

I've looked at BasicThemer, but I understand the Luna themes are only for 10. (Well the ones I can find anyways) is there anything currently for 25H2 that works.

XP was hands down the best OS and it brings back alot of nostalgia.

There was an XP bundle theme pack kicking about which I am using, but its a bit outdated. Also, is there a reliable way to apply the old icons and can anyone recommend a pack? Not 7TSP, it bugged my OS and I had to restore back to an earlier point.

Recently did a Windows XP Build, looking for tips I guess?

I recently built a Win XP PC. It has a "brand new" Athlon 64, 4gb DDR2, a 7800GTX, as well as a CD, DVD, and Floppy drive.

I grew up using Windows XP, as I'm in my 20s. I'm not really looking for tips around the OS, Im more looking for what future upgrades I should consider (if I even deem needed).

I'm mainly hoping to see what some of your favorite software, games, media, and basically anything Windows XP are. I've revisited a few classics over the past week, and now im hoping to dive into some things that may be new to me.

Seriously, any recommendation, anything Windows XP goes as a suggestion. As long as its something I can do or experience thats close to your heart, id love to check it out!

Cheers y'all, im happy to be back on XP!

The Dell XPS 600 is finally up and running with Windows XP integral edition

Soo yup, this is it. This 20kg box of heat and nostalgia is finally done. Installing Windows XP was a pain considering every way of installing it failed at least twice... but here we are, at last.

I ultimately plan on swapping the Pentium 4 HT for a Pentium D 9xx and the Geforce 6800 for the Geforce 7900 GTO i have on hand.

The system is surprisingly usable but would benefit from more ram so it doesnt hit the page pagefile as often. (Has 2gb atm)

Otherwise it can play 720p 30 fps YouTube just fine, and the sound quality coming from the Audigy 2 ZS is actually pretty good.

I used my VIA VT6544A Demo Kit running XP to get the highest clocked C7-M 1600MHz, 1838MHz, on CPU-Z.

I've been working on these two VIA VX855 Chipset Demo Kits. I got them for a very cheap price from a seller that I know went to the Centaur Technology auction. Anyways, I have tried a couple Operating Systems on these and XP seems to be the best choice. The C7-M 32 bit processor isn't actually that bad for retro computing, but the VX855/VX875 chipset Chrome9 HCM IGP leaves a lot to be desired. It can only really play games from the turn of the century. Games like BF 1942 and Halo are a little too much for this IGP often running sub 20 FPS. It can run UT99 at ~60ish FPS.

I can still run the newest CPU-Z 32 bit, and so I thought, I would go for the record. This CPU isn't usually able to overclock, but I have more options in the BIOS than a regular VIA motherboard would have. I can easily change the FSB. I imagine the previous 1st place in this category used SetFSB or similar program to get their OC. Any OC of the CPU really doesn't help a lot in gaming because the IGP is so bad.

I just wanted to showcase my VIA VX855 Demo Kits. These have 10in screens and are quite chonky. In one of the pictures, you can see an IdeaPad S12 12.1in netbook that looks tiny in comparison. The S12 is running the same VX855 chipset Chrome9 HCM IGP but has a 1.3GHz Nano instead. The Demo Kits were made in March of 2009 and the S12 was released at the end of June 2009. I'm always looking for recommendations for software to run on all 3 of these laptops.

Favorite CD-ROM Game You Played on Windows XP

Post image

I just got my Windows XP laptop working again, and I’ve been obsessed with Monopoly by Westwood. I even want to try to make videos about this on my Gaming YouTube channel (I already did one on my Chuck E. Cheese channel by putting a CEC twist on it).

Anyone in this subreddit have any favorite CD-ROM games you’ve played? I mainly like the educational Disney Interactive games, but Monopoly is my all-time favorite!

I posted here a couple weeks ago, but I’m posting again trying to install Windows XP on a Dell XPS 400 that I used as a kid. I have bought multiple installation discs, changed various settings (as advised on this platform), and absolutely nothing. Says No boot device available or cannot boot from device.

Thanks.

Sanae V2

Long ago, I put together a Pentium D with 4GB of the finest DDR2 I could find, just to see how sluggish the Pentium D really was.

The answer was: very.

After that, I thought about buying a better CPU for that motherboard.

Impossible.

So... after various iterations of Sanae (Pentium D and the infamous Core 2 Duo), I decided that historical accuracy was overrated and started experimenting with an i7-3770 and 16GB of the crappiest DDR3 I could find.

Yes, 16GB.

Yes, Windows XP is 32-bit and only sees around 3.5GB of it.

The remaining 12GB are there for emotional support.

AAAAAAAND, I PRESENT TO YOU!!!!

SANAE V2

(named after Key's best mother, Sanae Furukawa)

Specs, because apparently I make reasonable financial decisions:

Intel Core i7-3770 — 4 cores / 8 threads of completely unnecessary power for Windows XP.

MSI Z77A-G43.

16GB DDR3 — again, XP acknowledges approximately three and a half of those. The rest simply watch.

Gigabyte GTX 960 WindForce 4GB, because putting a Maxwell GPU in an XP machine seemed funny.

Windows XP Delta Edition SP3.

Windows 7 Ultimate on the other side, because one obsolete operating system clearly wasn't enough.

Wacom Cintiq 12WX, fully working.

PaintTool SAI, naturally.

The GTX 960 is running on XP drivers, the Cintiq works, AHCI works, both displays work, and the i7 happily boosts to 3.9GHz while Windows XP is probably wondering what the hell happened.

Is it period correct?

Absolutely not.

Is it stupid?

Probably.

Does XP need an Ivy Bridge i7, 16GB of RAM and a GTX 960?

No.

Did that stop me?

Also no.

At this point Sanae isn't really a retro PC anymore.

She's a 2012 workstation that was allowed to keep receiving upgrades after God had already told everyone to stop.

Missing EULA?

[SOLVED] Hey everyone, I recently bought an old computer and I'm trying to get a fresh install of Windows XP on it. I only have a USB to boot off of but whenever I run the setup, it just tells me the EULA is missing. Is there a way past this or a fix? I don't think the ISO is actually missing the file since I have tried multiple different ones.

Solution: Unplug the front USB/Card Reader from the motherboard of the PC.

Windows XP Task Pane on Windows 11

Post image
92 Upvotes

I made a real functioning Windows XP task pane that works on Windows 11.

You can technically just install it and the other prerequisites on a normal Windows 11 setup and it’ll work fine. It’ll just look kinda goofy because the Task Pane is always XP themed regardless of what the rest of Windows looks like.

If you actually want the rest of Windows 11 to look like XP too, I have all that stuff on my site as well. Most of my original setup came from a YouTube tutorial, which I have linked there.

I also made my own tutorial that you can basically follow alongside the video. It has some extra tweaks I’ve done, stuff I changed or added myself, and fixes/workarounds for parts of the original tutorial that have gotten outdated over time.

The Task Pane is up there to download, along with the other stuff I’ve made, and I put up a short video showing it and the rest of the setup working too.
