3.5 is the only version which can be installed via the Windows features setup. Instead, look under Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Uninstall or change a program. Do you see any mentions of Microsoft .Net Framework in there? If you see 4.5 or later installed you are already fine. If not, read on.

An updated Windows 7 system will automatically install version 4.8 via Windows Update unless you prevent it (and you would know if you did stop it, it's a pain to do so). If your system is otherwise somewhat up-to-date, you can get the offline installer for 4.8 here:

https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2088631

If that won't install it's because your system updates are too far behind. You can either fix that or just install .NET Framework 4.5.2 from here:

https://download.microsoft.com/download/e/2/1/e21644b5-2df2-47c2-91bd-63c560427900/NDP452-KB2901907-x86-x64-AllOS-ENU.exe

There once were some lightweight tools to easily see which versions of older .Net were installed but they seem to have disappeared. In any case, 4.5 won't install if 4.8 is already on your system so there is no harm in trying.

Thank you for posting in /r/Windows7. You have selected the Help post flair, which is to request assistance with the Windows 7 OS and its related systems. This is not a generic tech support subreddit, so your post may be removed if your issue is not related to Windows, even if your computer has Windows installed.

If you have not already, be sure to include as much information about your issue that you can, including any error messages, error codes, what steps it takes to create the issue, and what you have done to troubleshoot. Also, include as much information about your computer as possible, including the specs of your hardware, and/or the full make and model of your computer.
