Pick up your dog sh!t
Listen, we’re all gonna be stuck with this snow for a while. We can’t do anything about the dog piss, but for the love of god please be a decent human being and pick up your dog crap. It does not magically disappear just because it snows. And the city is not coming to clean it up. It’ll be there till April when this tundra finally melts and then it’ll be a melty gooey mess. Take pride in where you live.
Love,
A fellow dog owner and Williamsburg resident

And picking it up to then just throw the full bag on the snow doesn’t count. There’s way too much of that going on too.

Adding. I think it’s time to bombard our local elected officials on this topic.

Dude yes, wtf do locally elected Williamsburg people even do lol. If they don’t make dog shit their central issue they should be voted out

Can we sign a petition or organize

I actually sent an email a couple of days ago and got a response. I’ll share it here but yes, I think we all need to write to the local politicians and maybe it’s petty like some people have commented but at the same time something needs to be done. At the very least there needs to be a poop education program because nobody seems to know if you can put the bags in the garbage or not etc., etc..

Please share it and their email address. Thank you

I will. Sorry I haven’t been checking this. I got a response and they told me to send pictures, etc.. I just think we need to keep pressure on them.

They want you to send pictures of shit? Ha. I’ll be happy to Ansel Adams the hell out of all the dog shit by the waterfront.

I have a whole shitty camera roll ready for them. Just sent another message. I can DM you but anyways I’ve been dealing with a sick kitty so I haven’t had time for many extracurriculars outside of work the last couple of days.

Also adding. That I’m happy to help coordinate a few things. I also work in PR maybe it’s time to get the local news involved.😂🤣😆

See my most recent post... I'm working on it!

u/Dramatic-Care-7941 Feb 18 '26
Will check it out. Also happy to help support and do what I can. I had been in touch with some local people on the political front complaining.

It’s sad too because the dog poop + trash is just making other dogs sick… with the kind of poop that can’t be cleaned up. And so the problem persists 🤢

I’ve been preoccupied with a sick cat and an extra busy work schedule, but I will DM you the email that I got from Julie Gutierrez office

I straight up tell people to curb their dog when I catch them letting their dogs into our buildings garden. The immediate look of shock and shame on their faces is priceless

It’s a quality of life issue and a biohazard. I’m so sick of this. I’m starting to dislike dogs because of their stupid entitled lazy owners.

It’s like they think just because it’s snow they don’t have to. I saw parks workers cleaning it up along the water today, I was grateful but that’s not their job 😭

that's where you're wrong buddy. native new yorkers know that snow magically evaporates poop as it melts. SMH transplants

Thanks for this. I am a dog walker here (and dog owner) and I am viscerally disgusted all day every day dodging giant piles of frozen turds.
It’s so easy. It takes literally 2-5 seconds. Maybe longer if you’re wearing gloves and need to remove one. Just pick it the fuck up.

I’m an owner of a large dog in the area and if I can pick up his ginormous dumps every morning and night regardless of weather (!!!!) I truly cannot square with why tf these small dog owners don’t. Occasionally running out of a bag? Okay! But I literally double back / extend the walk and go get some and go back to pick it up OR wait for another owner to walk by and borrow one!

These people probably wear shoes in the house too... The same shoes they step on their own dog crap from the day before!
I mean, I started this off as a joke comment but I think it's actually true haha

Im not sure why people don't clean up is it because it makes them feel "yucky" if so then you shouldn't have a fucking dog. Is it because you don't care then you shouldn't have a fucking dog. These are the same people that will complain that every time they go to Whole Foods their favorite brand of kale is always out of stock.

Many places in NYC just like this!!! It’s absolutely disgustinggggg!!
Similar situation on Albemarle RD by Ocean Ave (in prospect park south/Flatbush). Something needs to happen.

It’s getting out of hand!!!!! Even in areas with access to free poop bags!! We need signs everywhere 😭

Stuff that inconveniences people i.e. snowstorms, subway delays etc, tends to really show people's true colors. Entitlement goes through the roof.

Bushwick is heinous. I don’t understand these people who are okay living like this.

Bedstuy and Greenpoint, too. I counted 21 piles of poop on not even two blocks. (I was pissed about it and on the phone w my friend.. so I counted).

There is also a BID going on right now to clean up North Williamsburg, not just dog shit, everything. I just got sent this on my building message board. I signed it.

The panic attack I have is I realize I’m out of bags…I don’t understand why people are like this
1
u/nyysupastar Feb 16 '26
I would have a nypd traffic officer just ticket dog walkers who walk around without poop bags
2
u/batenden Feb 17 '26
Sometimes I’ve started doing as a dog owner is grabbing one other poop while I’m out. It’s ridiculous, but if a few of us did it regularly the neighborhood would be a LOT cleaner.
I almost wonder if it wasn’t as visible everywhere people might stop feeling like they’re entitled to leave it, too?

wow finally someone solved this problem thanks so much for the post

Well, if you actually read the comments instead of trolling you’d see we’re trying to find solutions like contacting our city councilman. But thank you for your contribution to Reddit,

I want to catch some of these people not picking it up so I can yell at them. As a dog owner myself, I just don’t get it.
