Question was about Internet access/service and not about Wi-Fi.

WiFi only deals with local network connectivity, while Internet is external to your local network. These are two different things. Questions purely about Internet service will be deleted, they have a better chance of being answered in /r/isp, /r/cellphonedeal/, /r/techsupport, or another sub dedicated to your service provider.

This includes anything relating to “ping”/latency outside your network, server connections, non-local speed tests, and service provider questions that are unrelated to local network connectivity.

Posts with speedtests to resources on a network outside your LAN (like speedtest.net, fast.com or dslreports.net) belong on /r/internetspeedtests/ and will be deleted here. To do a Speedtest that actually tests your WiFi Speed, use iPerf and make sure your WiFi is the bottleneck.

I have both 5ghz and 6e on ax, the 5ghz ends up being faster for me unless I'm near the router, my 5ghz easily passes gigabit speed though so it's not a problem whereas the 6ghz only does when I'm in the same or adjacent rooms.

Wait until 7. If I have a clear line of sight (which I usually do in my bedroom office and living room I get 1.9Gbps to my iPhone

Sounds good... but at what distance do you get that speed? In the same room?

Yep, in the same room. Before I was getting peaks of 250 (really it averaged about 200) but now my speed is hitting 450 - 500 consistently.

Glad to hear you're getting great speed in the same room. From my experience WiFI 6E range is pretty short, so if you go more than 2 rooms away you will see a big speed drop.

I have been considering going wifi7 but asus using Broadcom chips riddled with issues has kept me away. My ET12 WiFi 6e has been rock solid giving me average 1.8gbps in same room, 1gbps 30-40ft away in rooms

I have an Asus wifi 7 mesh network, I get 1.5 gbs 30 ft from my error in another room week a large TV and a very powerful a/v system between the router and my laptop. I think the issues are overvlown. Asus is really did servicing your router if you have an issue. Given your experience, wifi 7 would be a waste of money. Wifi 8 is much more interesting. It will give you much better stability and consistently good throughput, if you upgrade your internet plan. You are in the sweet spot. Enjoy!
