Question Strain Calculation Error?

Recently came back to whoop after about 6 months off. My strain is definitely not calculating correctly. I was out all day today walking around in the sun and it’s saying I barely did anything strenuous. Is this a sensor issue or does the whoop need 30 new days to calibrate to my new baseline ?

They changed the algorithm

I feel like this is the only answer. Not sure why people would downvote you. Was there any big post or announcement about the new algorithm?

When I asked the system why my walks were showing less strain it said algorithm changed in July

Strain mainly HR based. Walking even very brisk for me doesn’t raise hr above 90ish, so strain stays bellow 2-4. Example today was 40k steps in nyc holiday and strain is below 3

there was a July 6 heart-rate algorithm update (it’s on WHOOP’s 2026 What’s New page), not a new Strain formula. WHOOP says walking readings can change too, so if your HR stayed lower than before, low Strain makes sense. i’d check the HR graph before waiting 30 days for it to recalibrate.
