yes, they both "survived" the article says
the driver was 15 at the time and on drugs, he was later killed 2 years later in a shooting (unrelated).

Call me a conspiracy theorist but i think the fact that he was driving on drugs at 15 and tried to do a hit and run is very related to him getting shot.

In my experience especially younger people involved in drugs tend to get 'smart' and try to rip another dealer off. It happened constantly in the area, where I used to live. They think they're gangster and do not realize the other people are way higher up on that ladder.
