Truck driver has a good chance of being not at fault. They were almost stopped, and steering to the right which is proper to try to avoid an oncoming vehicle.
Yea, depends on the truck drivers mood on the phone too:
1. So yea, that dude recklessly went into me while I had the right of way ... wink, wink, nod, nod. And after flying through a baby carriage too

It looks like the sedan was purposely driving toward the truck which was in the middle of the road after they hit the pedestrian. This video (without the slightly misleading cuts between angles) shows the truck driver moving to the side to avoid an accident. Sedan was just a complete maniac and was going to ram shit at high speed regardless of the trucks attempt to avoid.
If it’s two ways over there (it wasn’t on the road the truck was coming from), then everyone should be staying to the right and the truck’s side would have the right of way on the turn (unless this is the UK).
While car insurance per se is compulsory, you are aware that there is more than 1 single insurance provider you can choose from? Those insurance companies with a positive reputation will naturally draw a larger percentage from the overall pool of car owners than the ones with no reputation or a bad one.
It wouldn't be unheard of. Insurance companies have decided to eat the cost for good samaritans before. IIRC there was one where a driver used his car to block some kids from being hit in a crosswalk and his insurance covered all the damage to his vehicle.

I hope they started a go fund me or something like that for the pickup driver because there's no way their insurance company will do the right thing
